Skip activation?

I did a factory reset for my Eris, which is no longer in service. I was planning to reset it to a clean slate then just use it as a XBMC remote using their app on my WiFi network. I've run into a little problem though, because now it want's me to activate the phone on VZW's network. Is there a way around that?

i am not sure but im afraid not. i had that problem as well, i forgot to delete my info when sending back a refurbished.

I think you can tap the 4 corners of the activation screen to get out of it, or something like that. Google it.

I have tried this and can verify that it works.

Looks like the way to do it on the Eris is to let it call out, then end the call and you can skip through the screens. Thanks!
