Root question about switching rom's

Ok, I did the easy root. I'm now at rooted 2.2. I have busy box, barnacle, and Tom manager installed. My next step, I am guessing, would be to switch rom's. What step do I need to take to backup my things before attempting the rom switch?

So you got BusyBox installed. What happened? In the other thread it seemed you still had problems.

Checked out OMJ's guide in this thread for custom firmware -- http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-droid/136508-guide-all-things-root-related.html

By "Tom manager" I assume you mean rom manager. In rom manager you can flash the latest of clockwork recovery and make a backup from there. You can either do it from within the app by going to "backup existing rom" or you can do it manually by powering off the phone, then hold the power button and X at the same time to get to the recovery menu. Then go to nandroid and then backup and it will backup your phone. From there download any rom you'd like and flash it. Just make sure to wipe data and cache before you flash any rom. If you have any more questions about that stuff let me know.
