Help Working with imperfect Google Apps

It's clear that the built in apps (Calendar, Contacts, etc) have some issues. What can we do to live with the pain while we wait for fixes?

I believe that we can get around the calendar problems by never editing repeating events on the G1. Is that right? Kind of a drag, but I can deal with it for a bit.

I've read that others have had this problem, so I thought it was universal.

Would you try an experiment? Find a repeating calendar event on your G1, and change it there and then see if syncing causes any problems?

What happens for me is I get the com.android.calendar Java error each time the phone tries to sync. Hope you don't!

I've already made changes to several repeating events with no issues.

Try creating a weekly 'all day' repeating event on your computer Google Calendar, that starts today and stops in six weeks or so. Then, after it syncs to your G1, would you change today's event so it takes place at 11PM today? Then after it syncs can you please see if you get any errors on your G1 Calendar?

I seem to get this com.android.calendar error consistantly, and the only way to get rid of it is to delete my Calendar data on my G1 and sync.

I'm on RC30, BTW

Thanks!

I've only had three problems:

1) Gmail can't create/edit filters (I do that a lot .."filter messages like these" so that each person always has their own label)

2) Google Reader doesn't let you edit tags

3) Google Reader doesn't support keyboard shortcuts (such as j for next, k for previous, s for star, m for mark unread, t for edit tags)

Calendar may have issues, but I wouldn't know. I largely use calendar as a read-only version of my google calendar (and almost all of my google calendar data is in the "work" calendar, and that's just a dump from my Oracle Calendar at work, so I wouldn't be editing that anyway).

What issues are you seeing with Contacts?
