Root ?wireless tether question?

You need a wireless tethering app. I use aNetshare. Turn on Wireless tethering in the app you are using. On your laptop, open up your Wireless network preferences and search for a network. You should be able to see your Eris from there and connect.
ok so, in addition to the wireless tether that came with my rom i need aNetshare, or something similar?

Try another app like aNetShare. I'll PM you the apk.

does aNetShare use less battery than wireless tether?
bc for me wireless tether is pretty bad.

i run tazz and have great battery i can very very easily get through a long day and 2 days if i dont use it too much.
over the weekend i was calibration the battery and it was sunday and i didnt want to stay up late running it down until i could put it on the charger to be ready for monday so i turned wireless tether and it only took like 4 hours (give or take) to run it down completely.

so is aNetShare any better?

i was having this same problem, i was already connected to wifi cuz i really just wanted to try this out on my ipod touch. I turned off wifi on my droid before starting the tether, rather than letting it turn it off and then it worked.

Dunno if this could be your problem too but i was happy it worked for me

Edit: Also try changing the frequency channel, that stopped me from connecting once also

I have had the stock rom, and now plane jane 2.0 and when I use wireless tether it always shows up as an ad-hoc which means some things cannot connect to it.

With my incredible I have a different kernel that allows wireless tether to show up as an access point. What are you guys doing to make it show up as an access point, because I want to do that.

I don't think there is much of a difference except the UI and WEP protection on Wireless Tether.
