when would be a good time to call and ask about a tracking number...i don't want to call multiple times a day and am wondering if anyone has any insight on when they might update their system or when it would show new tracking information

I waited a full week before I called. only to find out that it was showing up the next day...

has anyone tried emailing instead of calling?
they usually get back to you by the end of the day (if you email in the morning).

i can order mine tomorrow. my account says i'm eligible today, although technically not till tomorrow so the system won't show my ne2 discount.
and i am ordering online and through my account so i can have documentation!

my brother ordered his in store shortly after release and he was told to call the store back if he needed any information about shipment and stuff.

I just called VZW not fifteen minutes ago and chose option 2, to check account settings and information or ask for technical support. The automated voice said that I currently have a newly ordered phone pending activation. This is definitely a good sign, at the very least. This at least means that VZW hasn't decided to spontaneously cancel my order and that it will most likely get around to shipping within the next few days. Next I'm going to call my local store and see what extra information they can give me. ie. - tracking numbers.

If anyone is wondering whether or not their order has even gone through at all, try calling a local verizon store's number, (I don't think it will work if you call the national CS or whatever) and choose option 2 for, "If you are an existing customer and have questions regarding your bill or are in need of technical support." It should very rapidly dial another number and forward you to the national support, (I think the system detects if you've been forwarded or not). It will ask for you to enter the 10-digit number of the account that you need assistance with. Enter your phone number and it might tell you that you have a pending activation. It will ask you if you want to activate the phone now, or if you need help.

I did the above and it only worked once for me, but I haven't waited around then tried again. It only told me the message like 10min ago so it might not do it every single time that you call within a 30min window or so.

I've gotten the automated message since the 1st time I called the day after ordering (ordered 5th, called 6th). Tomorrow will be 1 week for me so I'm hoping to get my tracking # email then.

I ordered my replacement DX on August 3rd about an hour before the Verizon store closed. I dead pixel in the lower right hand corner of the screen. I'm hoping I get it next week.

Just got the call that my replacement X is at the store. I'm going to pick it up shortly. Also going to order one for my Mother-in-law who lives with us. Three Droid X's in one house!

Ordered last Thursday at a Verizon Wireless store and it will arrive tomorrow. Live in Florida and it is coming from Memphis according to the Fedex tracking data. The order status never showed on the page you can access from "My Account" which seemed odd. I called yesterday and got the order number but they had no status last nite. After I could not get an update this afternoon (order number not valid) I called again and was told the tracking number which the CS also checked for me and told me the delivery date. I confirmed it on Fedex site. It will be a long day tomorrow waiting for it. Could be up to 7PM delivery but the Fedex guy usually comes around 1 or so. Excited is an understatement.

Logged into the My Verizon area and went to the "Upgrade my phone" tab. My phone is now grayed out and it reminds me to activate my new phone when it arrives. That is some comfort, at least the order is in where others have had an issue.

i think it would be healthy at this point if I just walked away from the computer for a while and stopped refreshing my inbox waiting for the tracking number to display....










....nah! :D

Ordered on the 8/4 and received my shipping confirmation today. My phone is expected to arrive tomorrow. Both Verizon reps I spoke to this week told me the phone wouldn't ship until at least the 23rd, so like most others in the thread can attest, your phone should ship way before they tell you.
That is encouraging since I ordered mine on the 8th. Maybe the wait won't be as long as I feared.

Maybe the Droid 2 release will take some pressure off the "X".
