Come on people, enough is enough. I mean geez this month has not been out for 30 days yet, really not one month has passed since release on Jul 18. I have said it before and I will say it again, if you can't ride the cusp of new technology and all of the waves that come with it, than you have no reason to buy a phone this soon after release and if you do, you should know enough that this is all second nature and happens to almost every phone to some degree. So personally, enough already and lets start being constructive...

yeah I know, I was dreaming and just woke up............. for what its worth!

I for sure am, but thats usually how a forum like this works

only the people with problems posts, and the people like you and me who are quite happy with the phone watch the bored get cluttered with the same garbage. I really like these forums and the community it has so I stick around, but if it was not for that, I'd be long gone, showing off that screen to people and customers.

People have been constructive and you call them whiny regardless.

constructive is one thing.

creating countless threads about going back to the iphone or how much this phone sucks because there hasnt been an update for it before their 30 days are up is whiny.

while the problems are there, and i rather someone return the phone if they arent happy with it, id also rather them not posts a ton of those threads about it. but thats just my opinion

Countless? I see 4 in the top 3 pages of these forums.

Is it wrong to have a discussion whether or not someone should keep a phone after their 30 days? It's the initial 30 days of launch, I'd be amazing to not see these kinds of topics. It's our duty as forum members (as corny as it sounds) to aid those who need help, and hopefully such aid will trim down the "whining".

This phone has a huge amount of potential. Especially when Froyo is released. There are a few issues that some users are experiencing. GPS being key among them. From what I can tell, the biggest issues are not with the phone itself, they are with the user. The Android OS is not as basic and user friendly as the iPhone OS is.

While I acknowledge my own technical ability is pretty well above average, I don't believe that average user's ability is so low that an average person can't use it well.

For me, I wouldn't go back to iPhone after having my Captivate. It just gives so much more to the user...

I love my Captivate and will not be returning it for an iPhone.

oh trust me, it definitely has gotten better, especially after the merging of all the taking back the captivate threads. There have been plenty of "30 day return" posts I have enjoyed reading because they were well thought of, and well written.

but you have to admit there has also been a lot of "Clutter" as well, which every forum is subjected to

Oh certainly. I was just thinking to myself clicking in this place, that it is a 100%, bonafide mess. I'm just wondering if the OP feels his whining about whining is actually productive or constructive, (which it certainly isn't) and if his time could better be invested in helping these people out.

The whining and complaining will never cease from those people; once they jump on another phone, they'll notice there's something else with issues. None of the phones out there are perfect. You can't have it all wherever you go...

...although complaining CAN get somewhere. At least it got the iphone4 users free bumpers! I know for a fact that if I swapped for an iphone4 though, I'll be complaining about how boring the interface is. I've had an ipod touch for a year, and I don't touch it very often. I think I am happy with my captivate.

The number of negative threads themselves has dropped down to only 5 or 6, so that’s not all that bad. And if it stayed just in those threads it wouldn’t really be an issue. The problem is the core group of posters that feel the need to thread crap on just about every topic about how horrible the Captivate is and how everyone should purchase an iPhone 4.

I don’t begrudge them their opinion, there are issues with the Captivate and I agree in a perfect world products would be released bug free. My problem is the same posters going on and on and on about it. If you have made your choice and decided the captivate is not for you that’s fine. Find what makes you happy. But there are several posters who seem to only be happy when they are doing their best to make others unhappy with the phone and I disagree with that.

Move on guys.
QFT.

I haven't felt like posting here in weeks b/c of all the garbage. But, I figured it'd take a couple of weeks before the threads started to thin out; seeing as how we're still pretty close to the initial launch. Looks like we may finally be seeing the beginning of that.... I hope.

I respect that the issues that affect this phone may be a big deal for some users, but the amount of whinging has been obnoxious. How is "I'm taking the phone back" constructive? If the phone doesn't work for you - Great, take the phone back and find something that suits your needs. A post telling the world you are taking your phone back is unnecessary. It also seems like there are a few users who have stated they are returning their Captivate and are getting an iPhone4, yet they still maintain a presence on the forum. I'm not sure if they are sticking around just to whine about a product they no longer own, or if they haven't actually returned the phone at all, but it seems to me that if the iPhone4 is the product they want, there are more appropriate forums for users that device.
