Anyone tried out the relatively new Golf Digest GPS app?

Right now, it's a $1.99 introductory price until 9/1 and then it jumps to $9.99.

Would like to hear some real user reviews on it.

Haven't tried it, but FWIW I'm pretty happy with Skydroid...

Just bought it since on sale, even though I haven't golfed in a couple years . Plan on getting back out there soon, this gives me extra incentive (lame to need incentive to golf, I know). Looks like a sweet app, and the course list looks pretty comprehensive especially considering it was just released. Wondering if my battery will last a whole round though (dont have extended battery).

That's really the key. People with skydroid report good battery.

The question really is what happens when you put the phone to sleep between shots. Does the GPS go off entirely? How quickly does it find your new location? Also, when the app is running, how much is in pinging the GPS?

I wonder if any apps keep the GPS off entirely and then you just hit a button that says "ready to hit" or something like that and then it gets your location and turns the GPS back off. Seems like that wouldn't be a bad drain on the battery at all.
