Can you do the same thing using your bluetooth headset WITHOUT touching your phone?

I would test it out for you, but I can't get it to recognize any of my contacts. As a matter of fact, when I asked it to dial one of my contacts for the 20th time, instead of dialing my contact, it did a Google search on the name and dialed some random person with the same name without even prompting me. So it understood me fine but did the most wholly illogical thing and reached outside of my contacts to dial a random person. All of this is moot since it dials automatically without any confirmation. If this program does not ask you for confirmation by voice, it is fail. It doesn't -- it is FAIL.

Also, if you have poor reception, the search won't work since it's server based.

WinMo voice command = win. Android voice search = FAIL.

I had to download it three times before it kicked off. Then again, the reception at my desk isn't so great.

I can't understand why the program googles phone numbers for me instead of looking at my contacts first. At least create a command so I can specify it to search my contacts only. I tried "call contact XXX", but it googled it as a phrase.

And for God's sake Google, include voice confirmation! This is seriously WTF.

Set alarm is not working for me. The new voice search app says that I need to download a new desk clock app, but when I follow the link the marketplace says the app is not found.

Anyone run into similar problems.

Bah, apparently its because HTC nuked the stock Android clock in lieu of their own and it doesnt recognize it. I cant wait until there is a clean 2.2 ROM out there for an Evo so I can make this phone better. All HTC needs to be doing anymore is making those widgets, ditch the skin.

I also dont know if there is a way to pick and choose what it uses to initiate actions (like which music player).

WinMo's voice search is pretty kick ass. Its more like having a little...umm...android in your pocket to take commands from you. It gives you the opportunity to confirm certain requests when it makes sense.

...and the small things are so useful over bluetooth:
What time is it
Upcoming appointments
Open [application name]

Google has a bit of work to do to get close to WinMo's voice operation.

...but android voice search has more potential of awesome. In winmo, you'd likely have to upgrade to a new OS to get this kind of feature upgrade. Android seems to follow with the concept of modularity like linux - so I can see Google releasing an update to tweak some things without having to rebuild the entire OS.

I'd like to see them add:
Confirmation before dialing (yes or no)
Enable/Disable [bluetooth, wifi, 3g, 4g, volume, etc]
Open [application name]
Time/date/calendar info
Schedule appointments

Oh well, at least Google's mobile OS isn't a fail unlike MS.

I just want to make it clear -- voice command is the only thing WinMo did better than Android. I'm only a little bitchy about it because I thought the update would fix some things but it's still basically broken.

But I would never, ever go back to Windows for mobile. This is a minor inconvenience really, I'm just venting.
