Saw this over at XDA decided to get 3 versions (vent, window universal and mobile teather) of thier products to see how they work. Have reseached around the web really cant find anyone saying anything bad.

I like the idea, as they will be able to take any product not just the evo. Also knowing i will be upgrading phones all the time should be universal

Car Mounts - car mounts for cell phones, wireless devices, Universal for Window Vent and Dash

A youtube video

YouTube - ‪Clingo Universal In Car Holder‬‎

From what Allsop CS said to me it only has a issue sicking to Leather and silicon !!!!!!

**paid alot less $$ on ebay shipped

How many "clings" do you get before it stops holding your phone?

Heres the technical specs on the surface pad:

Clingo's Universal Mounting Technology

but quickly, 3300 PLUS Reps of wash and wear tests

also which i think is important Hot/cold tests -11 to 220 dg

I am sure though if you have alot of dust/crap floating around your car or you decide to use as a lint brush you will have to clean the pad more then usual

I been looking for a car dock for a while, i am a lil iffy about this one. I wonder when the "official" car dock is actually coming out. I read somewhere end of July......well its August 11th and nothing. The search continues.

According to Engadget, official car mount coming second week of September?

We'll see .. I'm waiting to see it before I buy a cheap alternative. But I'm also waiting for ProClip to release their's ... sure is taking them a while.

So i ran across this for $19 at Meijer (a midwest version of Super Walmart). Picked it up to ty it.

First of all, if you are caseless, this won't work. The battery cover material on the Evo is simply too pourous to stick well. On average, it would stick for about 2 minutes on my car. I put my case on (I use the plastic, bi-color HTC case from Sprint) and it works better but not great. If I REALLY stick it on, it will usually work but I've had a couple of falls. In addition, the weight of the phone causes the ball joint to droop, making it less than ideal.

Verdict: I can't recommend this for the Evo.

Funny side note to all this.... i called *7 today from the phone hoping to talk to someone that knows more about the car dock. Well i got the a rep overseas and lets just say the language barrier was an issue. They kept telling me it was available. I told them NUMEROUS times not the universal mount, the OFFICIAL HTC mount. I asked when it was coming out.... to which they just kept referring me back to the universal one that is out now. After about 20 mins of being put on hold and going back and forth my phone dropped the call as i was crossing a bridge. Thank God for small miracles.

i had no issue no with it sticking to naked back of an EVO, if you call CS at Allsop in the 1st batch of universal arms there was an issue with stickiness and some with ball joint issues, sounds like you have one of them.

heres more reviews showing no issues in regards to stickiness on the evo, just trying to show you got a bad one.

Outside of the iphone, ProClip will not make an adustable device specific mount. The iphone and it's charging type of holders are the only ones that get that treatment.

That being said, the adjustable holder originally made for the iphone works very well with cases as you can see in this thread
Is the proclip or engadget car mounts going to be able to by used with any case even the beefy ones?

Here is a good review of the Clingo- they did the bumps test AND the distance test. They also tested it w/ serious AC and heat. When it got fairly hot in the sun, they couldn't de-stick it. They had to hold it in front of the AC to get it to loosen its "clinginess". LOL.

Clingo Universal Hands Free Mount Review – Road Trip Tested | Notebooks.com

It says on their website that it uses static to assist in the sticky factor along with a patented polymer that doesnt loose its qualities of adhesion when wet or dirty. To clean, simply run water over it and wipe with a damp cloth.

I odered one and its supposed to be delivered today. I'll come back and let you guys know how it goes.
