I bought my x10 not too long ago and having the following questions, it will be great if someone can help me to solve these:

1) The battery of the phone couldn't last for more than 12 hours, I called SE support and they asked me to use PC Companion to update the software. I did but it didn't help. They asked me to do it again, but what I found is that I have the latest version already in Canada. Note: I bought this phone from a local store here with SW 14 (when i read the forum from you guys and realize that the most updated SW version should be 26!?) and it suppose to have much better battery life. I have ATK to kill the apps frequently, but the batteries is just not improving..

2) How do you check whether your phone is branded or unbranded becuase i heard that you can update the phone number quicker with unbranded phone. Is that true?

Thank you for all your suggestion.

Use the online updating service. Most of us in Canada are on firmware 20. Huge gain in battery life from that alone (I'd say double). I'm on day three on my phone and still at 35% right now. Wifi is always on when the screen is on, BT and 3G are always on too. Couldn't ask for more IMO.

Try this link and follow the instructions:
Update Service Software Informer: Latest version download, news and info about this Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications AB program. Update Servise helps you to install the latest available software.

A lot of people think app killers don't do much FWIW and some say it makes it worse because they are the ones that are always running full tilt.

At boot, right after the Sony boot screen, what's the next thing you see? I see the Rogers Logo for a few seconds before going to my homepage, that mean my phone is branded to Rogers's Network.

I don't know about the updates but ROOTED phones gets whatever updates they want (as long the rom is released)

Another thing you can do is change your launcher. I heard there is a bug in the default home launcher that prevents the phone from achieving standby mode. I installed ADW.Launcher from the market and my battery life improved. It is very configurable and can be set to look like the original.

It is easy to go back to the default if you find you don't like it. Since then, I've also updated to 20.

I doubled my battery life (maybe even tripled, hard to say right now) by doing this upgrade. I unplugged from the charger at 6 am, ran all day with bluetooth running mos of the day, then turned on GPS and WiFi at around 6pm. Just hit the 5% warning about an hour ago.

Thanks for the tip, but how the hell do you get 3 days with 65% of a battery?????

Lets hear what your setup is!

BT, Wifi and 3G are always on (wifi sets to turn off when the phone sleeps). I don't use it that much. Screen is set to Automatic. Juice Defender is turned off (made no difference). App killer is off too. GPS is typically off, but I'll turn it on for a Endomondo workout or the 10-15 minutes of Nav I use. I also bought an 1800 mAh battery from Mugen power. Not sure if it helps a ton of not, but I keep it in.

3 days is light use though - but two days is still pretty easy with some texting, an hour or two of browsing per day, playing some music, making the odd call.

Before the update, my battery life was largely dictated by Bluetooth and Wifi, now it's Phone System, Standby then display.

Thats actually not true, rooted phones are different from debranded phones. for example i have a rogers phone that is rooted ( i can run root programs and delete moxier) however unless i debrand it i cant upgrade the firmware from 020 to 026.
