I remember hearing the colors might be mismatched. Try different combination of the color cables in the slots you know what im sayin? uhh or plug it in hard.
considering everything else wrong with the vibrant wouldn't surprise me that your tv out doesn't work.

I tried connecting my phone to couple of TVs and both showed me message saying Can't show TV Out is not supported while application is running or something like that. I could hear sound right but no video.

Any idea?

So what can Vibrant show on TV? Are you saying, I can see other movies on TV but just not Avatar?

Yup, you can use other video files just not avatar since it is drm locked to the phone. Last night for example I hooked the phone to a projector and watched zombieland, while wirelessly transmitting the audio to my home theater system.

An abuse of technology sure but it was pretty neat.

Also you can use the video out for surfing the net on your tv and gaming even. Just not the Sims game that is included. But Raging Thunder worked great, as did replica island.

Ok so i dont know what im doing wrong. I have the proper cable. I connect the red cable into the yellow jack on the tv. I choose tv out on the phone and ntsc. I set up the tv correctly and i get a garbled image. I tried on muliple tv's.... what am i doing wrong?

If you trim back the molded plastic on the cables' stereo plug connector you will probably get a good full seating of the connector ... that is what i did with my cable ...

Had the same issue as you ...

This thread seems old already, but it came up as one of the first hits in my search. I'll post the fix on this thread anyways to help others who may find this with the same garbled screen while doing everything right.

It seems like some iPOD compatible RCA cables have the Ground and the VIDEO (Yellow) wire swapped. or perhaps some other pin-out arrangement.
You can confirm this if you pull out the RCA cable out of socket just enough so you see the first ring, so one of hte pins is not touching and then everything lines up but you are actually missing the RED audio channel.
Here is the pinout for the samsung galaxy s i9000. you can confirm your cable easily with a simple multi-meter test. (you'd think they would make these cables standard pin-outs)
SAMSUNG GALAXY S I9000 PINOUT
(starting with pin#1 at the tip of the 3.5mm)
Code:
PIN-1 Tip: Audio Left
PIN-2 Ring1: Audio Right
PIN-3 Ring2: Video
PIN-4 Sleeve: GROUND

(Sorry my first post, couldn't post links. But trying to help others with the same problem i am having)
