What a startling defence mechanism - it projects its failures onto others to try to make itself feel better. Let's poke it!

In response, no, the iPhone is for people who can't be bothered to do anything for themselves and would prefer it rigidly laid out for them by somebody else so they don't have to make any decisions. Oh, and people who can't see that they're paying hundreds more for a phone with worse hardware.

And people don't go against the grain to be rebellious you bigot. They go against the grain because most of the time the grain is going in the wrong direction. There are a lot of those odd people about that have individual ideas and desires, and even though you may not understand them, it's best to let them do what they want, or they may type out long, mildly insulting responses to your posts pointing out the flaws in your logic.

Yes, android apps suck. No question about it, I just wish I'd bought an iPhone too. The iPhone just works!! If you cant beat um...join um !!!

I dare say the same people have a betamax player, laser disc player, and a sega saturn gathering dust at the bottom of their wardrobes, after similar attempts to "rebell" with tech. The HTC Desire, betamax player, laser disc players and the sega saturn all have/had suppierior processing power but if the software/media is not produced to take advantage of them...they are useless.

AT the end of the day there are a heck of a lot more people moving from iPhone to Android than the other way round, so who is right and who is wrong?

Na...I know there has been a big uptake in Android, but I doubt very much that many people are moving from iPhone to Android. I would love to see figures if you can find any?

Just a quick poll of all my mates who incidently have iPhones, would never move to Android - and I'm sure if you ask anyone with an iPhone they would say the same.

Thing is...the iPhone is the top of the range smart phone...The increase in android is down to people joining the more affordable smartphone market....android....a bit like the Fiesta of the smartphone world.

No idea why people are getting on others' case for voicing their opinions. If someone wants to be able to play loads of games or have loads of apps on his phone, then thats what he wants. If he then wants to switch to an iphone for that reason, its his perrogative. He has said that apart from that, he loves his desire, but clearly he values games a lot. People on here saying that they didnt buy their desire to play games so he shouldnt care about that is just a silly argument imho. he wants games, and so wants to get a phone that can deliver that for him right now.

its no secret that the android market place is inferior to the app store currently. I get frustrated myself but I think the desire is better so am willing to stick with it. if someone isnt, then so be it *rolls eyes*

The iPhone 4 isn't top of the range. It was outdated when it was released, and every time a new high end phone is released it becomes more and more obsolete. Hell, it has worse technical specifications than the desire in most areas, and the desire was released months beforehand.

The only plus it has is the app market, and that's going to be shattered by Android in the not so distant future. 200,000 android phones are sold a day - Android phones outsell the iPhone 4, and that's a hard, cold fact.

I owned an iPhone and sold it to get a Nokia 5800. The iPhone is good for a month then it gets boring. Money was no object when I got my Desire, I just wanted a nice, fast smartphone with an open platform. The iPhone makes a good first smartphone, but once youve got the hang of them and want to customise, youll need to look elsewhere because ios is strictly padlocked by jobs!

Rubbish. We have loads of ex iPhone users on this forum alone. The graph clearly shows that Android is stealing market share from iOS, as Android's market share is going up, and all the others are going down, particularly iOS.

Note that the number of Android handsets sold daily has gone up 886% since this time last year. And it's still growing. Apple have a lot of media hype around their product launches, but then they stagnate. Android phones are constantly being updated, both in terms of hardware and software.

The iPhone used to be the best smartphone. But with the launch of the iPhone 4, they fell seriously behind in terms of hardware, and other companies have cottoned onto the app store idea and are advancing on Apple's lead in that area.

People will happily switch to Android when the iPhone 4 looks obsolete next to the next generation dual-core processor models coming out on the Android platform. Apple can't release phones quickly enough to keep up, it's as simple as that. They're already falling behind, and they're destined to keep doing so.

Writing software for such a diverse set of handsets is un-managable. How can software perform correctly on a handset running android with a poor processor when it is written for a "quad core" handset. You have hit the nail on the head really, software on the android market will be destined to fail as android's bedroom software writers are writing software that is untested!! And expecting people to pay for it! Its rediculous! I certainly wouldnt be spending money on something that has not been tested and optimised for my handset!! Thats the beauty with the iPhone, and why the software works so spectacularly...professional programmers know what hardware they are writing software for. The best peice of software written for an android device is only as good as the worst piece of hardware that is capable of running it.

Most android apps are free, and if you buy an app without using a free trial first you're a bit of a muppet really. The fact is there are truly spectacular apps on android if you take the time to find them, and lots of developers listen very carefully to feedback. I personally have pretty frequent contact with the developer of Buzzbox, who is a very amiable person and happily takes on board every suggestion and acts on them.

The quality of apps on android is constantly improving and will continue to do so, and the apps aren't controlled as they are on iOS. Which you prefer is subjective, but personally I prefer the Android app store as most of the apps are free and there aren't any restrictions on what people can put up. But it's up to the user on that point.
