FYI: The Captivate is now $149 on contract at Best Buy

I saw the same ads in the newspaper this morning but it now $149 in store. Most ads are done 4-6 weeks in advance so what in store and what's in the ad are sometime different.

Well I bought mine at walmart for $148 on the 31st of July. But still.....i would like to see this phone holds it's value. I think T-Mobile is still selling their Galaxy S (Vibrant) for $199 still.

I got my Captivate at RadioShack. I just looked online after seeing this thread, and Radioshack is selling them for $149 on contract now, just like bestbuy.

I am still within my 30 day return period. I am on my second phone but I am still getting crappy battery life. If I return the phone for a new one, will I get it for the $149?

I'm not so sure it's a good thing for a phone to hold its value. That means that it's expensive to buy, which means fewer people will buy it, if the alternative phone has comparable quality but without the artificially inflated cost, errr, "value".

Of course, Apple doesn't care. It has always wanted to be the Rolex of computers, and now of smartphones.

It's like you can get a Dell laptop for 400 bucks or an inferior Mac one for a thousand. You'd be paying 600 dollars for shiny white paint, basically.
