Sorry if there are is an answer for this already. Searching for "keyboard" and "tab" is a pretty big waste of time to sift through.

Is there a soft keyboard out that has alt, ctrl, tab, shift, and a pipe?
It would also need multitouch and/or some sticky keys option to be able to utilize them. (like being able to press ctrl+k)

I don't care about swype or any "super awesome" keyboard with gigantic keys. I'll deal with typos if it means I can keep my evo and still get around in shells remotely without having to carry around a bluetooth keyboard (whenever cyanogen or somebody gets BT HID working).

I don't care about auto correction. I don't care about text prediction. I don't care if you can put a Hello Kitty theme on it. I don't even care if you're forced to use a Hello Kitty them to use it. I just want a keyboard that works as a full keyboard.

basically I just want a keyboard for Android that is exactly like the virtual keyboard you'd get in Windows Mobile 6.1 (the same keyboard came up for me on my ppc6700 and my Mogul (ppc6800)) when you already had a physical keyboard but needed more keys than your keyboard provided.

This is driving me insane.

Better Keyboard is exactly what I was alluding to in my previous posts. Its whole selling point is bigger buttons and Hello Kitty themes.

I just need a keyboard with access to function keys like ctrl, alt, shift, and tab. I see it (Better Keyboard) has a button on one screen labeled as ALT but I can't seem to find any reviews that actually show it doing anything and I've only seen this is in one screenshot. ...What possesses someone to make a five minute video review of a keyboard app that doesn't actually show you how it works?

Seeing as that's a paid keyboard app I'm going to have to wait to hear from someone on if that actually does what I need or not.

yeah, but none of them seem to include those very specific functions that I'm asking for.

"look you can swipe back and forth to special characters and letters." there's a key labeled ALT with a dot on there but no one ever touches it. Reviews are always just BUT LOOK! SKINS! NOW WATCH ME DOWNLOAD STUFF FROM THE MARKET!

fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff

Alt (on any virtual keyboard I think) is a sticky key for characters like pipe, back slash, etc. But I don't think you get function of Alt+key and there is no Ctl+key.

You would think that since it was written off of a linux variation the programmers would have wanted that. I assume some of them do command line stuff remotely. I never thought about it. Many people say they use an android device to telnet.

Been shopping around for an alternative keyboard myself, I like Smart keyboard's black skin and makes the letters very clear to read. But I also like Swiftkey, just wish it had a darker keyboard skin.

About Touchpal, the fact that it requires permission to read personal data is fishy, I backed out of installing that when I saw it, not surprising considering it's coming from China.

Why don't you try it yourself, then refund within the 24 hours if it doesn't work as you want?

Thats the whole point behind the 24 hour refund policy..

Yeah I really don't do the buy something to return it later thing.

Could you not just pair a bluetooth keyboard to your phone when you need to use those 733t hax00r buttons?

Yes, I can see why you'd want to carry around a keyboard with you everywhere when you're already carrying around a phone with a 4.3" screen.
