So I extremely apologize if this was answered before. I spent quite a bit of time searching with no luck so I decided to through it out there to all you experts.

I know if you use a magnet while charging it will turn my phone into dock mode. I love this, however a magnet isn't always around. Ha. Nevertheless, I have heard of some programs that will do this, but I can't seem to find them on the market anymore. Anyone have any that actually work? Thanks!

There is an app called DockService on the market.
DockService v2.1.2 Application for Android | Tools

thanks, however I tried installing that over the weekend and it force closes every time. I thought maybe it wasn't compatible with the OTA update I got over the weekend. I installed it, turned it on and plugged it into a charger, a force close keeps coming up. According to some of the feedback on their website others have had the same problem. Any ideas?

OK, maybe I'm the slowest kid on the street, however I just found out that if you use the pre-installed application called "clock" it will make it in dock mode. Now if anyone knows how I can set it up to auto launch when I plug it it they would be a life saver. Isn't there an app for auto launching something when something happens?

I installed it and when it launches it force closes. I reboot and tried it again and still force closes. ARGH!

Hmm I haven't tried it since I got 2.2, sorry. I have 2 docks so I don't need to force the dock, and the "clock" is now the dock on 2.2, so it's essentially the same thing. You could just put a shortcut to it on your home screen and BOOM your there.
As far as what you are talking about "make it do something when something happens" that is what the directional magnet in the docks is for (dock is one direction, say positive gauss, and the car dock is negative gauss, but don't quote me on that, haven't needed to check which direction is which). If you are wanting something else, we need something more specific.... "goto dock mode when usb plugged in, but not just 12V charger" for instance. I can't think of any I've seen off hand but there might be. I know there was a thread here where someone made a dock out of legos and someone else was selling custom wood docks that look like a little couch. Very cool.:)
Like I said we'd love to help and there are alot of people here who are also dev's so maybe you could suggest someone makeing an app for what you want... but we need specifics.

Thanks for the help. Ya, basically I want an app that loads the pre-installed "clock" program every time I plug it into a power source. Then when I unplug it I could just click on the home button. I am too cheap to buy the dock for the house, but thinking seriously about the car dock. Any pro's out there that can write a program I'd be willing to pay for the cause. Thanks again for the feedback.

Still wish someone new of an app or could create one to do what I'm looking for.

Quick bit about Tasker, I use it to sense by GPS/Cell towers to identify that I am at work and have it move my phone to silent mode.
Works beautifully...except if you up the ringer to move you out of silent mode the system does not go back and check/re-apply the the settings (have not figured out how to program Tasker to do that yet).

I just checked Tasker and you can set it by State>Power and select if it is any or just AC or USB. Next you would want to go to Misc>Load App and you should be able to select the Clock from there.
I have way too many apps and do not have enough time for it to load everything, however I also use Tasker to silence the click of the camera by setting it so that when the Camera app is running, my phone goes to silent :p

Tasker is a VERY powerful app. It has a large learning curve, but like Sweeter Home 2, the benefits you can reap are equal to the work you put in :)

Thanks for the bit of info. Maybe I'll give it a whirl.
