Well, I might be the first moron to take the Droid X for a dive! Unfortunately, there is no swimming app. I have tried all the tricks, and all I get is the big red eye staring at me. Fortunately, i had the insurance, BUT they have no Droid X's and don't have a clue when they will get them. Guy at VZW CS says they usually ship new phones to Asurion soon after release, but we will see. Prior to the dunking, I was really enjoying the phone.

PROS:
Voice to text in all fields
Great phone (on both ends of a call)
Swype
Ability to change out vital apps with better ones (texting, lock screen, browser, etc..)
Favorite contacts screen with ability to text/call/email your faves.
Pinch to zoom with text re-flow in Dolphin Browser.
Speed!

CONS:
Inability to order contacts by last name. This is standard on every other OS out there. How tough can it be to give us this option?
Occasional freeze ups.
Screen is only so-so in bright sunlight. I have seen better and worse. Other than that, screen is great.
It doesn't swim!

I have had gook luck with Asurion in the past, but it was always with my kids' phones. Does anybody have any helpful input on expediting my replacement phone?

Since you're getting it replaced anyway you should actually try submerging it in a big bowl of rubbing alcohol. It'll replace what water is left inside the phone, and will evaporate with no residue. Take it apart as much as you can, dunk it for about 15-20 seconds, then set it in front of a fan. I have saved a couple friends phones by doing this.

Yeah, I did the rice thing, but only for a day. Maybe I should put it back for a few more days. At this point I am not really sure I want it to work because I would always be worried that is going to crap out on me soon. Then again, I might be waiting for months for a replacement.

I think once you try to turn it on there is no going back. Correct me if I am wrong please.

Can they ship you an Incredible or comprable model UNTIL they get the DX in stock?

No, they can send him an eris if that was the closest compat phone they had in stock, and the case is closed. It's in the asurion docs they send you, and that same language is available on their website.

Also there is a cost if you don't send your old phone back. If it's booting to the red eye, you may want to hit up some of the developers that are known for rooting. It might be enough to get them started, just have them pay the asurion fee and shipping, and your karma points will skyrocket!

It looks like the forum lost some posts plus I had to re-register.

Anyway, put my claim in on Saturday morning 8/14 and I am getting a brand new X today 8/16. I had to fill out one of those afidavits but it didn't delay my claim as they processed it and approved my claim within 10 mintues. I get to keep all my battery, memory card and charger so I don't feel so bad paying the 89 dollar deductable. My guess is that since the phone is so new there not much choice but for them to ship out new ones. Kind of funny that it takes longer to get one from Verizon. Verizon is projecting the end of the month although my original phone was shipped a week earlier than promised.

Dehumidifier.

Works almost every time................if you took the battery out ASAP and didn't try to use it.

We have a pool at the house. Can't tell you how many cell phones we have saved.

If you don't have a dehumidifier, try an A/C vent or window A/C unit. Basically the the same thing as a dehumidifier, only the A/C is blowing on it instead of basically sucking water out of it.
But a dehumidifier is the best thing going! All other 'remedies' are jokes in comparison.

I have Central Air so we no longer use a dehumidifier. It's been several days and I've done several differnent things towards drying it out. I have saved a phone in the past but this seems to be toast. It wouldn't matter at this point because I have a replacement coming today. Even if the old one started working I'm not sure I would want it as it could develop issues down the road. My phone was under water for about 10 minutes in brackish river water so there was some exposure to salt although very low might cause some corrosion. The only signs of life it shows when connecting to the battery or power cord is the indicator light glows while pressing the button. I don't recall that light coming on under normal cirmcustances.
Anyway it doesn't matter as Asurian's policy once you have paid the deductable is no refunds. They want the old one back so even if it comes alive they own it.
