Help How to get IE and Firefox favorites to Droid X...

I think you are going to have to just type them in. Don't know of a different method.

As previously stated, you basically just have to type them in.

FWIW, there are some shortcuts that I found. I use Firefox on my PC and Dolphin HD on my Droid X. I exported my favorites from Firefox, which produces a simple bookmarks.html file. Then I connect my Droid X to my PC, navigate to TunnyBrowser (Dolphins' directory), and open up the bookmarks file using any text editor. I then open the bookmarks file produced my Firefox, format a little bit of the links to match those in Dolphins' bookmarks file, and then finally copy the links into the Dolphin file. Save the file and you should be set.

I haven't tried any other browsers and have only done this once, but my favorites are there and it took less than 5 minutes to do it.

That's ridiculous, I may as well wait for 2.2 Froyo and use Chrome to Phone and then just push favorites from Firefox and IE to Chrome on my desktop and from there to my Android!!!!

I was hoping to be able to do this sooner with an application......

Anyone else?

A little bad but not really that ridiculous. Open two files, copy lines from one file to another, add a little formatting, and save. Bake in the oven for one minute and you have your favorites fresh and hot for your liking.

You would think this little functionality would be built in. I gave up trying to look for an easy solution and just decided to go the manual route. If it makes you feel anybody, the whole time I kept reminding myself, only have to do this once, over and over.

With Firefox get the Mobile Barcode add-on and use one of the barcode scanner apps to scan the barcode of each bookmark. It's a lot quick than typing them in individually

If you install the Opera Browser on your PC, you can import bookmarks from Firefox (or favorites from IE).
Then, if you install Opera Mini as a browser on your phone, you can sync the bookmarks.

I haven't tried it yet on my X, but it worked flawlessly on my BB, and since there is an Opera Mini for Android, I would assume it works pretty much the same way.

If you do go this way and wait until 2.2, there's a Firefox extension called FoxToPhone that'll push it to the ChromeToPhone Android app. It'll at least remove that additional step.

Thanks for the tip! Learn something new everyday, just wish I had learned about this about a month ago.

have a look at xmarks.com. with xmarks installed you can sync your bookmarks to any computer on the planet. There is an app for android but its a paid app. The work around is logging into your xmarks account on your phone and then bookmarking it. any time you add or delete a bookmark on your pc it will update and be reflected on your phone as well. also, if you bookmark you stuff using "my.Xmarks.com/iphone" the text size of your bookmarked links will be much improved.

This was posted on another forum and I believe it may help. I'm going to try it when I get home:

I use Firefox on my PC. I exported my bookmarks as html and then created a Google Doc into which I pasted the links. I then set this google doc as my home page on my phone. If you have access to webhosting, you could also just directly host the exported html page on a webserver and then set that page as your homepage. Far from perfect but it works for me.

Another user suggested using the mybookmarks app available from the market.

Here is a quick and dirty method to transfer all your IE favorites to the Droid.

1. Export favorites from IE. This will produce a file called bookmark.htm
2. Copy this file to your SD card. I suggest creating a folder called my_favs and copying the file to there. Use the USB cable or any other method to copy the file to your phone.
3. In the Droid browser, surf to: file://sdcard/my_favs/bookmark.htm
4. When you reach the page, bookmark it. Now you have all your IE favorite links on your phone!

The file IE produces is a web page that contains all the folder names, shortcuts, and links. From it you can scroll down the list and click on any link. It isn't pretty but it is very practical. The good news is, you can update it at any time by simply copying a fresh bookmark.htm file to the same location on your phone.
