Basically the short story is
X1 - had a dead pixel in all screens unable to be repaired by battery pull or master wipe. It also randomly would drop my wifi in the house and just sit loading the page for minutes with no progress until I pulled the battery and restarted. It also would randomly set the screen time out to "no option" which would immediately time the screen out when you weren't touching the screen....
X2 - just received today and loaded up tonight and it's got this terrible buzz from the earpiece speaker like the little metal mesh is loose or something. Called tech support and they apologized but the tech at the store that did the replacement for me sent me a "as-new phone" basically a refurb that didn't come with a battery or sd card nor any literature in a plain box. She said they messed up and I should have got a brand new in package phone with all the parts that I would just swap the sd cards from.

NOW I have to run to the store again with X1 and X2 and demand a new stock phone if they have one or Customer Service will send me a new stock phone to replace this one.

This really ticks me off because I spent hours setting up the X1 just the way I liked it and spent at least an hour carefully installing a wrapsol.

This is such a fiasco. This phone is sounding more and more like a dud to me. Just spend some time in the troubleshooting forum and none of these are isolated incidents, I sometimes wonder if I avoided Antennagate with the iphone 4 only to get crap hardware from verizon whom I have been a loyal customer for over 10 years. I don't have hours and hours of my life to recustomize all these freaking phones because I have to cross my fingers I get a decent one with X3!!!!

Make sure to complain to Motorola about this. One of the "stock" features that they removed from Android that was present on the original Droid was the ability for the basic settings (icon layout, wallpaper, wifi settings, etc.) as well as all apps installed to be stored in the cloud, so upon a factory reset or replacement phone, everything would reinstall automatically after putting in your google ID/password. Don't know why they felt the need to remove this and replace it with the crappy Verizon backup assistant that serves no real functional purpose other than an initial transfer of phone #s from another phone.
/rant off....

I did write to motorola about this mess and they sent back a stock answer noting that they stand behind their hardware and if verizon is unsuccessful at fulfilling my needs they will take care of it. Say nothing for the hours I spend configuring three phones. I also have to pay shipping for another wrapsol kit to be sent to me even though it's free I still am out another 5 bucks for shipping. I should request it from verizon!

Was the dead Pixel not there in the beginning with your Droid X1? If you noticed it, I sure wouldn't have spent hours setting up a phone you wanted to return. But if you didn't see it initially, then I understand that. The problem is, you shouldn't have gotten an "as new" phone. I never would have accepted that. That's bull and Verizon should know better than that after the money folks are paying for these. If you had a new phone, your replacement should be a new phone.

I am just thankful my replacement phone I got (first one died after 15 minutes) seem perfect this time. At least I haven't noticed any problems with the things I actually do with the phone. And since Verizon ended up crediting the credit card for the entire 609.00 I spent purchasing this at retail and gave me the replacement as an upgrade for 199.00, I am loving this phone even more!

But I get your point, there are ALOT of problems folks are finding that makes you wonder who tested this phone before it hit the streets so quickly. Moto has alot of work to do to get all these known issues resolved with the 2.2 Froyo release.

I feel your pain..

X1 - Dead pixel and sound is fuzzy on recorded videos
X2 - earpiece was buzzing, I didn't even activate it and kept X1
X3 - Verizon sent a refurb and I refused to keep it.
X4 - recieved package, opened the box and it was a Droid Incredible.. wtfffff
X5 - rep told me to go into a Verizon store and they will swap it for a new one if they have any in stock. If not, they will ship me another one again.

I'm still using my X1 for now.

So frustrating.. But I'm certain I will get a perfect X eventually. lol. There is no other phone out there that I want, so I have no choice but to put up with this BS.

If they tell you that again, then it sounds like that store's service is garbage and not the phone.

The store is definitely garbage:
1st problem: screen times out very very fast despite being set to one minute.... Tech: Well you don't have Advanced App Killer soo....

2nd problem: Me: yeah there is this red pixel that stays red in all screens and after a battery pull. It also shows up in videos and pictures I take.
Tech: Well I can tell you the problem already (after scrolling through my app drawer in about 1 second) you don't have advanced app killer... let me put that on for you and see.......

3rd problem: Me: my speaker buzzes terrible and the phone's accelerometer is now not detecting the position of the phone to turn it auto from portrait to landscape despite the check being green in settings to auto rotate....
Tech: Do you have an app killing program (me dumb enough to think that maybe she thought that was the thing giving me trouble said "no I sure don't") Well that is the issue, too many processes running at once... You should get advanced app killer....

My favorite part is when I called Verizon via telephone for tech support the tech laughed and said not one of my problems with any of the phones I had has anything, not even a little bit, due to processes running in the background. They recognized that Android was designed to manage the applications running to best serve it's use and that the stores techs clearly were just going from a script or something.

I am going to go back tomorrow to personally complain to the manager of the store and I swear on my fishes grave if X3 comes in and is anything less then spectacular I am taking my ball and going home. Verizon will lose my business

X1 was doing sporadic reboots (a known issue), got X2 on Friday, 8/13. Today, the first day I tried the GPS on X2, I found out that it was shutting off the screen intermittently (another known issue, apparently.) Apparently X2 was a "like new" phone. Today after I spoke with the CSR, they said they'd ship me another phone, which I should have in 2 days. Shortly after that I got an email about the "like new" phone I should receive, etc (I didn't get that for the first replacement phone.) To be honest, I wasn't sure whether X2 was new or not.

After calling Verizon back and complaining about this, the CSR explained that a "like new" phone wasn't used. Umm...sorry, but it IS used, just less than 30 days. She finally admitted it is a used phone, but not for more than 30 days. She did say it is their policy to "always" replace with a "like new" phone, and that it takes managerial approval to send out a new, in retail box, phone. (I'm on the phone with her as I type this) :)

I suspect they are having a lot of people returning these phones and they are reusing them...maybe people aren't saying they are having a problem with them when they return them in that 30 day period. Regardless, I didn't buy a used or "like new" phone, and I expect to get a new one that actually works correctly.

Finished call - supposedly I'll get my new phone this Friday, I'll just refuse shipment on the "like new" phone. So frustrating!
