Disable stock phone dialer ?

Does anyone know how to disable the stock dialer? Before 2.1 you could download a dialer and make it the default. Now, with 2.1, that is not possible. So the large "phone" button on the home page is is still the stock dialer even though I have downloaded Dailer One.

I hate the HTC dialer !!

you have to root the phone to replace the dialer completely

No. Anyone can root now. Just follow the instructions in the all things root section.

Thanks for the info. But, "just follow the directions in the root section"; the threads go on forever. I have no clue.

Yes. All HTC Sense phones have the same dialer.

I would try the one click root method that is also listed in the all things root sub forum. There is an app on the market you can download that will allow you to root your phone without having to download a custom rom.
