Zaggs Screen Protector on the N1

I just received my replacement N1 and I have a few thoughts on the zaggs screen protector. I only spent about 15 minutes with my 1st N1 before putting a Zaggs screen cover on it. Since then I have only looked at the N1's screen with it on. After looking at both phones side by side today I am no longer going to use the Zaggs cover. It definitely takes away from the clarity and richness of the detail the screen provides. I am still a bit scared about running my N1 naked but thanks to some of you guys I am going to give clarivue screen protector a shot. If that doesn't live up to what the site claims then I might just run completely naked. While I think Zaggs offers the best protection (I use to take a key and rub it across the screen to show it off) it definitely takes away from the beauty of this phone.

I had the same problem with the Zagg "invisible shield".

It was, by no means, invisible. Right now I'm using one that is perfect. Some super-thin cover I had put on by a local chain here. I'll have to dig up the name of it later and let you know. It looks great, can't even tell it's there.

I love the cold slick metalic and glass feel of Nexus in my hand. It's such a pleasure to touch my Nexus every time I hold her. I just can't imagine hindering her so with a case or cover. She lives inside her phone sleeve, which I of course adore!

After 3 months of having her, I still baby her like when I got her on the first day I refuse to put her down on any 'hard' surface when I am not using her. She still looks amazing to me, and being naked, she still has no scratch on her glass skin. Well none that my eyes can't see.

I'd be more likely to use a Zagg case protector than a screen protector. The screen is the least scratchable part in my opinion.

The other thing with the screen protector from Zagg is that it always stopped me from swiping the screen smoothly.

yeah if i set it down on any surface its always on top of the sleeve, i went off on my mom when she put it on the table bare, this phone gets treated like a million dollar car. and its just as fast

But I baby it less then I used to. I feel like he's grown out of that.
Now I even dare to throw my nexus a small distance... onto my bed... when it's in the sleeve

Id love to take this screen protector off mine i really would but im scared. If i see a scratch on my baby ill leave it on the church steps to be adopted.....hopefully by someone nice

Can others confirm the robustness of the phone and how resistant the screen is??

If good answers i may let him go naked ...... its a big step!

hmm...I find it strange that both of you (males) refer to your Nexus as masculine. I'm thinking Snakeybidder is European like Teknologic. Is this a European thing...to refer to your tech toys as males? In North America (Canada/US) tech toys (cars/phones/computer etc) are seen as feminine things, lol, and are given girlie names.

It's a culture thing lol When you think of a car, you think of this nice hot sleek thing....which in my eyes is a girl That's how I see my phone and computer as well.

I also find my Nexus too beatiful to be *coughs* downgraded to a male thing.

I meant personify with it on a subconscious level. I don't see myself as a phone or my phone as a mini-me
But I think to some extent people tend to do this.

Maybe it's tied to some personal character traits. For example, I have a pretty assertive style of driving. If I would imagine my car as female I'd probably go alot easier on it, haha
Same with how I treat my nexy, I think he's sturdy and can take a blow. Maybe if he had some flimsy slide clip I'd consider it female :O (pun intended)

And if you're still following i my train of thought here then congratulations, my mind is a clusterf*ck atm as I'm actually way too busy to be replying scouring the forums.

So phone-on-pouch is a common thing among us N1 folks? I have done it since day one and my N1 has never touched a surface without the pouch being under it (car dock excluded).

I have an industrial laptop that I got discounted from when I worked at International Business Machine. All of my tech friends (guys) give their gadgets female names and I guess I simply picked that up from them, lol.

I do that, if I don't have my pouch close at hand, I'll put Nexus on a napkin.

FYI, if you have some issues with the back cover of the N1, like scratches or what not. Call HTC and tell them that the cover has gotten lose. They'll send you a replacement cover for free with no questions asked

Thanks for the tip, but I don't think that's really an option for me here in Belgium. Maybe Germany has a HTC support center or smth but I'm fairly sure HTC support in my country is close to zip.

I like the Zagg screen protectors because of the way they are applied. They come with a spray that lubricates the protector, allowing you to slide it around until it's just right before you squeeze the bubbles out. And the liquid spray also aids in the bubble removal. But the Zagg protectors, though extremely tough, are less than stellar (okay, pretty bad, actually) when it comes to clarity.

With other screen protectors, you get one shot, and if you get it wrong, it's ruined. But I like them better for their clarity.

So here's what I did: I got an "ultra-clear" screen protector from CaseMate and a separate Zagg screen protector kit. I tossed the Zagg protector in a drawer, hopefully never to be used. All I really wanted was the spray lubricant. I used the Zagg spray to apply the CaseMate protector, and it went on just as easily as the Zagg, perfectly centered, and no bubbles whatsoever. And it's ultra-clear, and ultra-smooth, almost identical to the original glass.

And now I keep the spray (they give you plenty) so I can apply a new CaseMate (or other clear protector) if this one ever gets scratched.
