Root Dinc+root-computer?

Crappy title, I know. But does anyone know a way to root the dinc without a computer? I know I did it on my dx with a terminal emulator. Just wondering if there is a similar way for the dinc.

Lol yeah. Idk why I got creative with the title. Short and to the point tho. I'd imagine its possible, you just run similar commands through the emulator as you would on the computer. I just don't know what those changes would be

i thought the rooting process for the dinc includes restarting the device and issuing commands during the boot process? im making assumptions based on watching my computer use the unrevoked program, and skimming through what the root process used to be.
if the commands need to be issued during the boot process then i dont think you could do it using a command prompt on the device itself.

I see the same thing. I don't think there is a way to do it minus a computer. surely you know someone with a computer you can use for 10 minutes.

i dont think his problem is nessisarily that he doesnt have a computer to use in general, but maybe not at this moment?

i cant use my work computer to do things like run rooting programs because we are forbidden from downloading anything off the internet.
also he could be on vacation and living in a hotel currently.
or and heres my favorite option:
he could be competing with an iphone friend that was showing him iphones can be jailbroken just by going to jailbreakme.com on the phone itself.

i saw that on my friends iphone and was immediatly jelous of how much easier it is to do.

well no, but i find it strange that how a company like apple who is totally against jail-breaking their phones how easy it seems to be...

I actually had a powerbook but I just bought a new house and I refuse to get internet hooked up because my only option at the moment is dial up. So I gave the laptop to my parents. I could take my dinc to my friends house and download the drivers and etc. and root it there but I was just looking for another way. No biggy. Good call on having to restart it tho. I wasn't even thinking about that.

Oh yeah jasper, I do make sure my non android toting friends are aware of this linux operating system and all its glories. Being able to root so easily right from the X and the capabilities rooting brings to the phone made them envious. And my friend with an x didn't like that I was tethering with wifi for free compared to his $20 a month fee

Once the phone is rooted, does it need access to a computer regularly to make changes? I travel often for 1-2 weeks and I usually do not take a computer with me. Can you download ROMs and make all necessary changes without a computer after rooting?

No maintnence required at all. I have done full os changes since rooting without using my computer at all.
