My Replacement Evo is a Refurb....

My hardware version is 003. It says reconditioned on 7/27/10. Not a big deal I guess, as long as it works..... My speakerphone was bad on my original, that's why they got me this one.

Thank you. I too have speaker issues and wondered if Sprint could fix or I would need a replacement.

And as for me, have never cared if phone is a refurbished.

Hard to tell at this point. Sometimes refurbs can be better/as good as a new device...
And sometimes they can be headaches.

I had many issues with refurb'd Palm Pre's but I have not experienced anything like that with other refurbished phoones.

I went through 4 refurb Palm Pre's until they just switched me to an HTC Hero.

I am very skeptical about refurb phones, but it may vary by the model.

Ive been buying refurb stuff online for 10 years or more now, I "personally" have never had a problem with anything refurbished. Granted Ive been buying from most the same companies and pay attention to some places that have "refurb grades" for quality.

There is a difference between buying refurb at refurb pricing and paying full price for refurb items. There is very little risk in buying "factory refurb" but I wouldn't buy 3rd party refurb. There is a lot of reasons why an item can be named refurbed and some of them are pure win. However one should never have to pay full price for them.

My own opinion on a refurbished phone is pretty simple. I had numerous issues with my BB Tour when I bought it. I was not eligible for any upgrade so I paid full price, two and a half months later the phone died. I had insurance and Sprint was willing to replace it with a refurb, I called numerous times because I didn't want a refurb and my argument to Sprint was less than three months ago I wasn't offered the refurbished price, I had to pay full price for a NEW phone. The phone died because of a technical issue, no fault of my own. After three calls, Sprint relented and sent me a brand new phone, and reset my upgrade so I was eligible for an upgrade when the EVO was released.
So...if you don't want a refurb, call and explain your issue. Sprint WILL work with you. :D
