Chipotle....anyone?

I rarely go to Chipotle. Too many calories! One typical burrito with wrap, chicken, rice, beans, tomato salsa, cheese, sour cream, and guacamole will be over 1100 calories. It would be ok if eaten in 2 sittings but for 1? Eeek.

If you couldn't tell... I really care about weight control. I have extensive knowledge in nutrition with a "specialty" in the glycemic index.

I love Chipotle. When I was in Texas they were everywhere, now I moved back to the Seattle area and they are very rare. I love Sonic too, but they are rare here also.

I am still waiting for our app, I had the chipotle app on my iPhone like 2 years ago so I could order and pay from my phone, then just pick up my food.

I monitor my calories very closely. I was over 300 lbs a few months ago. Thanks to calorie counter app I have lost 40 pounds so far. Fast food is ok in moderation but until I got that app I had no idea what I was eating. Looking back I was eating 3000-4000 calories a day.

BTW, I can barely finish a bowl in 1 sitting and I never get guac or beans. I have really cut back on my eating since May.

Great job on your weight loss! I'm sure that you'll reach your goal if you keep up what you're doing. :) Almost everything is fine in moderation (moderation in relation to what's being eaten). I'm sure a lot of people though did not know that Chipotle CAN pack so many calories. It depends on what you order and how you customize.

I previously lost 60lbs and am having a hard time stabilizing my current weight for some reason... so I've learned a LOT about nutrition and GI (what I based my weight loss from). I go out to eat a lot with friends, so I make it my business to know the calories in all of the major establishments.

I love chipotle. The burritos are too big though, I get the vegetarian tacos and a water. The Chipotle website says 635 calories, not that bad.

Just make sure to get some Chipotle away!

Whenever I go with friends, I always get the bowl.

My order:

Burrito Bowl w/
Lettuce
Cheese
Black Beans
Fajita Vegetables
Chicken
Tomato salsa
Corn salsa

Calories: 535, Protein: 52g, Fiber: 15g

Healthy :) ... aside from the very high sodium

I love Chipotle! My wife and I go there once or twice a week depending on our budget!

And to the poster who mentioned that they're waiting on the official app to come out like on the iPhone...You took the words out of my mouth! It's frustrating how all these various businesses are quick to come out with apps for the iPhone, but what about US?! You'd think they would want to come out with apps for more OS as to appeal to a wider customer base. Anyway, here's to hoping we see it in the market soon.

Rant over :)

Fair enough, but at least with Chipotle, they user local/organic suppliers, and strive to be a green/sustainable organization.

Oh definitely. I like how they use fresh ingredients. They don't completely use local/organic suppliers since it's dependent on location. The one in Barstow, CA is miles and miles away from any farm. I do like the design of their establishments (modern industrial) and that you can really customize it to how you like.

I wish though they would have a whole wheat mini burrito or something.... perhaps geared for health nuts and children. I always laugh whenever I see a kid with one of the massive burritos in front of him.

Hence, the reason I said "strive".

;)

As far as a "mini burrito", there's always ordering a "bowl", and just ask for 1-2 soft taco tortillas.

Wondered why we hadn't seen these in the UK but the 1100 calories gave it away. lol :D

They'll be in the EU soon...per the CEO.

They list calories next to all the items, right next to the prices. Burrito has the highest, and does not have to be 1000...that's with "all the fixins". My regular fajita burrito w/barbacoa, cheese, lettuce, and hot salsa is ~650-700.

I like it. Same thing as Q-Doba but different name.

If they were next to each other I'd say eeny meeny miny mo.

Rubios > illegal Pete's > Chipotle > Qdoba.

Those are the ones in/around Denver. I just discovered rubios and they have been down the street this whole time lol. Illegal Pete's and Chipotle burritos are a toss up IMO but illegal Pete's offers other Mexican food choices and liquor/beer so it gets the nod. However Chipotle is readily available at every street corner here (it started here) so I still frequent it while out.
