So the evo animations run embarrassingly compared to droid x on the UI. I was at the verizon store yesterday comparing them even the htc incredible runs smoother as far as the interface goes. Will rooting make this better? I'm sure the EVO is capable even more than any of those two phones.

Rooting allows you to flash a custom kernel that disables the framerate cap on the evo. Most people go from 30fps to about 52fps. Makes a big difference in scrolling smoothness as well as finger sensitivity. You'll need a full root tho (simpleroot or unrevoked4ever).

Well I'm a really big noob when it comes to rooting :( I have Android 2.2 and I can't root from what I hear. So that makes it even more complicated for me. Is rooting hard? I would probably die if I bricked my EVO.

following a procedure to root your phone is easy if you know what's happening behind the scenes. If you're blindly following the procedure, you're prone to do something wrong or get an unexpected result along the way.

bricking your phone by rooting is quite hard to do. You might THINK you've bricked it because you don't know how to recover. But more likely than not, there's a way to recover and go back, or recover and keep going.
