how to get your missing contacts to show up in the contacts list

If this has been posted before please delete but I couldn't find it so here goes.

If you have missing contacts in your contact list (even if all contacts is selected) but when you search for them they come up, here is the worlds easiest fix
Log into your google mail on your computers browser, click "contacts". In the left hand column the 1st row says "my contacts", note the total.Now 2nd to the bottom there it says "all contacts". If that total is more, click on it. At the top of the list of names click "all", In the column to the right there is a box that says "add to my contacts", Dont worry it will not duplicate contacts. Click on "add to my contacts" Now after this my phone started syncing contacts automatically, if yours does not, force the sync in the settings, accounts, google. as soon as its done, your missing contacts are now displayed

Tried this on Milestone & did not succeed. When I add contacts, they do not show in the list. If I search for the contact I added, I can find it. I tried these instructions & re added the gmail account again, and re-synced it again, --- but contacts that I have added still do not show on the contacts list.
Any body have any ideas why ?

so your "my contacts" and your "all contacts" total when you go to your account in a normal browser match?

Been looking for this for a while, seems to have fixed my problem.

I do not have an "all contacts" in my menu.

I have something that says other contacts but the number is MUCH too high to be correct. I have 128 on my phone and under other contacts it shows 500 something!

Appears to be every email address I have ever responded to or sent there.

wow, my g-mail doesn't save every contact I have ever received mail from. Try searching the "other contacts" folder for your missing contacts. I bet there in there

that option is in your google contact settings: whether or not it auto saves, etc. i just by chance happened to clean out my contacts shortly before i started using android and i'm really glad i did
