Just got my vibrant. Im posting with it now. Just wanted to heads up you guys. Mine was made on 8/8 and i got a gps lock in 5 seconds (real gps not mobile network). I also have no issues with a blue or yellow screen tint. I also live in queens, nyc. Perhaps im lucky or maybe this new batch is fixed.

Richie, you stole my thunder. I just got my Vibrant yesterday. No bugs to report yet. Turn by turn nav kicks my old tom tom's ass. It also locks on to my location within about 5-10 sec max. I haven't tested how many satellites it locks on to yet. Performed a benchmark test and came out to 918.
How do you find out what date it was made?

Download GPS Test by Chartcross in the Android Market and post your results.

Post your satellites, in view, in use, and accuracy.

Nobody knows what you consider a working GPS so it doesn't really mean anything.

downloaded and tested.
9 satellites in view and 1 in use.
So it's the same as most here.

I don't get what the big deal is if the turn by turn nav is working properly. I think it works great compared to my car gps.

It doesn't matter whether it's working fine in your day to day usage. What matters is that it shows a lock on ten out of ten sats in the test app.

May I ask why?? If it is working fine in day to day usage than what else do you need? Don't get me wrong. I would like for it to be performing at its full potential all the time. I just haven't experienced the problems most have here yet. But I've also only had the phone for 2 days. I know many people with the phone out there are having major issues with their GPS not working.

Yes and there are some here who are extremely hostile if you are having no problems either locking your location or navigating from point A to Point B. They will want you to download software to convince you that the GPS in your Vibrant is faulty.... Just ignore them and continue navigating happily.

Who cares how many sats you lock or what your test numbers are so long as your GPS does what you want it to. Samsung will fix those that don't work and all this will be behind us by the end of September.

Don't waste your time on arguing here, you won't convince anyone. They live in denial - "If mine doesn't work - yours doesn't either!"

PS. To Richie: Congratulations on getting a fully functional Vibrant! Enjoy your new Android, don't let anyone rain on your parade. ;)

I meant sarcasm in my post. that it works in day to day usage is what's important, at least to me.
