After being asked quite a few times, if my phone is an iphone...I've taken to setting my Evo on its' kickstand with the following message scrolling(via the billboard app)

NO GENIUS...This is NOT an iPhone.

Ah, yes, how to win friends and influence people. Short form.

How about: "This is an Evo; it's better than an iPhone"

Within the last week or so..People have actually said "Hey is that the new EVO", i'm like "Yes", they say "I want that phone so bad"..i'm like WORD! lol .. but no on a serious note..people actually are kinda catching on to the evo, but then you still have your droid commercials warping everyones minds to think every android phone is a droid phone from Verizon

This is how I've responded to just about everyone haha.
I've gotten guesses ranging from Droid, to Iphone, to IPAD (wtf?)
Or someone asking if it's "Sprint's basic version of the iphone" hahahahaha
I simply said no, it is made by HTC, and is much better than the new iphone.

Just had someone refer to it as the HTC Droid Evo X. Offensive to HTC and Moto at the same time!

That said, the same person looking at my Evo first thought it was an iPhone4.

I take from this that the average person probably just walks into whatever carrier they have or were thinking of switching too and just gets whatever phone is sold to them. This is where iPhone has a distinct phone advantage and VZW has a distinct carrier advantage by reputations in each area respectively.

Sprint has not been able to turn itself or Evo into known factors like that.

Ironically, I think they could have done it alone by helping Qik have a successful video call launch. All I hear iP4 people talking about is FaceTime. Most don't even know it's wifi-only.

I'm an IT guy, so I get asked about my phone a lot.
I usually get asked if it's the iPhone 4. I try to explain to them the differences between iOS and Android OS, and explain a few things that are specific to the phone (although I usually don't recommend it to people, simply because of the battery life).

As I was sitting in a sushi restaurant, a male worker approached me. I had my pearl white Seidio II Innocase on my EVO so the phone stood out in my holster. The worker asked me if I had the HTC EVO 4G. I replied, "Yes." Next thing I know I had 5 workers surrounding me in the restaurant. The worker said he wish he could have an HTC EVO 4G in Meridian, Mississippi but he is stuck with the iPhone 4 and AT&T because Sprint doesn't sell service here in Meridian. I guess I'm using Verizon's network while I'm down here, no wonder my 3G is slow. Anyway, I turned on the rotating globe wallpaper, the mario live wallpaper, and the anipet aquarium wallpaper. Everyone was in awe of the live wallpaper. I gave the guy my phone and he started pinching away on my screen. I almost cried. Then as one young lady was filling the pepper shakers I was showing a friend how I don't have to type out text messages. The young lady was like you can talk to your phone and it will type out the text. I said, "Yes." She was like I have an iPhone 3G and I don't like it. I felt bad for them.


Sprint, please give the workers at Saki Sushi Sprint Service. I'm sure they are not the only people being oppressed in Meridian, Mississippi by Apple and AT&T. Please help these people. They want the EVO 4G!

My friend who has an iphone 4 likes to go at it with me because the EVO rocks. One day he walked in and we started trading shots. So I put the EVO on her kickstand and unleashed two videos on the screen. Everyone gathered around my desk because watching an EVO people can do that and the sound was hella loud. I played two videos:

I've only had one person correctly identify my phone out in public as an Evo, the rest just say that it's a weird iPhone. A lot of people can't wrap their head around why it looks so off from an iFail, and just say that it is one. I show them once I turn the screen on and that's about it. General consensus is that it wasn't worth the $500 I paid for it though, lol.

A Droid is a phone manufactured by Motorola and was launched in October of 2009. You're doing the Evo an injustice, it most certainly is not a Droid.

FAIL.

The original Moto DROID is what created mind share for Android and started it's success, and is STILL the #1 selling Android phone. Also the Verizon HTC Incredible is called the DROID Incredible.

If only the EVO had such good marketing.
