Root reboot into recovery issue

I rooted awhile back and have been enjoying it quite a bit. I do seem to have one issue that I haven't been able to find an answer to anywhere. (it's not stopping me from doing anything, just annoying)

When I use a tool such as rom manager and reboot into recovery my sdcard can never mount (or isn't mounted) and after a dozen or so attempts the phone reboots (which I then press X on the keyboard to get back into recovery - clockworkmod). So if I go into the partitions menu option and then mount the sdcard, I can then do zip installs from the card.

But nothing I've tried will allow me to reboot into recovery from an application in the phone since apparently my sd card isn't mounted or can't be mounted without manual intervention.

Do you think there might be an issue with my sdcard? I'm pretty sure that I used to be able to do this, but recently it stopped working. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try copying everything from your sd card to your computer, format sd card on droid in settings menu then copy everything back to sd card from computer. That should hopefully fix your issue.

if you take "everything" off, format the card, then put "everything" back on... are you not just loading back on everything so essentially just putting the card back to exactly like it was before you formatted??? so if it is some errant software or app or item on the SD card, your putting it right back?

anyway, be aware, doing this could take 3-4 hours potentially. copying from phone to computer just 1 way can take hours depending on amount of data on the card.. then you got to put it all back

i did that procedure last night after having similar issues and my phone is running normally again. it only took 15-20 minutes total to copy from card to comp and back, not 4-5 hours lol. had about 2.5GB on the card too.

if it only took 15 min to go card to computer and back???? you dont have much on your card.. like I said "depending on amount of data on the card" - and in my case, and many others, I have 2-3 gigs of data.

That speed of card, over fastest USB 2.0 connection, cant transfer that fast. so, if yours took 15 minutes to go card to computer and back, you have a very small amount of data on that card. very small.

BTW, are you rooted g4lapagos? if so, and if you have done any ROM backups, which I hope you have, I find the 15 minute out and back nearly impossible to believe.

Like I said only 2.5gb. I only keep my latest backup on the sd card because they add up to a good amount of space. All the others are on my computer. I also put the card directly into the reader on my comp for the transfer. For small things like zips I do through the cable.

anyway.. "I also put the card directly into the reader on my comp for the transfer." so your taking the SD card out of the phone and putting it into a card reader. Yeah, that might speed up transfer a bit, but still, 2.5g out and 2.5g back is 5g transfered in 15 min??? hmmm.... okay

BTW.. isn't max "actual" USB Hi Speed 2.0 transfer speed about 12 mb/s and if 5g is 5120 mb the math simply does not work for a 15 min transfer both ways let alone 1 way, no?

edited at 1157 and posted again at 1246... yea i added it in to fool you, obviously you have a hard time reading. stop trying to be mr cool guy and prove me wrong with something so trivial as transfer times, your making yourself sound like a dick. im just trying to help ScorpionX out with what worked for me after i researched the problem on multiple forums. by the way, 12mb/s x 60s= 720mb/min x 15min = 10800mb = 10.8GB, so 2500mb/ 12mb/s = 208.3s = 3.47minutes at max transfer speed one way. 15-20 min is easily doable... learn math its good stuff lol

Well, formatting the sdcard worked. I was able to reinstall the rom I was using with rom manager (backing up and clearing cache, etc...) which I hadn't been able to do for awhile now. The only thing I have to add back to the sd card is all my music (about 12 gigs of it or so) but I'm not to concerned with that. Just happy that your suggestion worked for me. I appreciate the help.
