Well I got fed up of waiting and decided to root. I decided to go with 3rd wave 2.2 and everything went smooth. Now my question is if I want to try other Roms do I need to do anything special or just download to the SD card and repeat the same drill. Or do I need to do a recovery and or uninstall wave prior to installing a new rom?

boot into recovery; (nandroid backup optional), wipe data, wipe cache, install new rom from sd.

Installed the ota update then 3rd wave. Did i miss something?

So should I do a nandroid recovery first, then do wipe and clean?

installing the ota leak and then the custom rom is the way to go-- you did that fine. you only need to do a nandroid restore if you break something, and only need to create a nandroid backup if you wish to create a newer restore point before you try out a different custom rom. it is absolutely optional and just serves to save you a little time and/or a headache if something goes wrong.

Do you have a link to the OTA leak?
