Root lost root on 2.2

I don't know why but I have everything there after update to froyo but nothing that needs root will work. Su is there but root explorer or wifi will not work help please

something is messed up with my computer and its not recognizing my X
tried to reinstall drivers to no avail

can i use RSDLite + SPF to go back to 2.1, root and then reflash 2.2 so it'll stay rooted?

I have the same issue... I fixed the computer recognize problem... just switch to mass storage mode and the pc will reinstall the drivers and everything will come back on the desktop as needed.... for me i use pdanet and was worried but it's back now.... cant figure out how to fix root though... anyone?

Go into recovery, wipe cache, and factory reset from there. You should, from what I've seen people write, then boot into 2.1 where you can root and upgrade again.

All that does is remove application data. It will not reset the firmware to 2.1.

yea i did the cache and factory reset anyway, but i need to get back to 2.1 so i can root then upgrade

I'm trying to get back to 2.1 too. If you find a copy of the sbf feel free to send it my way.

I've managed to restore my connection and I'm able to get in with ADB. It seems like /sqlite_stmt_journals/ so the old root method is not working.

I think I am going to wait for a simpler way to root again on 2.2. I used the one click method before and am not confident about moving things from bins and such.

I can't even get su to run. Every time i try to run it I'm told "permission denied"

can't even get my X to properly mount to the computer
got into the tools folders on typed adb devices and its not there

You might need to flash the sbf first. But, you'll bootloop after you do (at least others have). Then wipe cache and factory reset.

Ok managed to get it working. I had to flash the sbf back on to get back to 2.1. Then I followed the instructions and life is good again.

Did you have to deactivate the phone?

Yeah once your at stock 2.1 get root then do this. If not you will have to do it all over....

1. Run "adb shell"

2. Run "mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/system /system"
3. Run "mv /system/bin/su /system/xbin/su"
Then just reboot to recovery and apply 2.2 update..

Yes I lost everything. I still had used titanium backup before I upgraded to 2.2 so I was able to restore my apps and settings.

Ok, So I was able to root @2.1, then when I went to 2.2 I read that I needed to unroot to save my root access. Well I got the 2.2 not the 2.2.6 Froyo, and now no root. Is there an easy to understand method to roll back to 2.1 and upgrade back to 2.2 with root? I have the ADK, Droid X Bootstrap, rsdlite6.6 adb drivers which do not seem to load correctly on my Win 7. I used to do seem edits on the old Moto's back in the day with no prob, But I'm lost in this process.
