Hey folks,

I don't know if this has already been posted here, I couldn't find it if it has, but here is a cool video sample recorded on an Epic 4G in 720P.

It might not wow everyone, but it looks better than the samples taken by Engadget. The audio pickup is awesome! And the video is so smooth I didn't know the video was being taken by the Epic until he mentioned it.

I'm really looking forward to this device!

Reactions: it.
My fears of low-quality EVO-like HD recording due the Epic's limited on-board storage (thus using the external SD card for saving) have been fully put to rest. :)

Given that the write-speed of the external SD card isn't affecting the Epic's HD recording quality, I wonder why the EVO records such crappy HD video..

Yeah. I don't get it either. Also, consumers are going to be tricked into thinking the Evo's camera is better because it is 8 MP. We know which camera is better but the average consumer will be clueless.

I think the video looks great, and I'm very impressed with how it handled the bursts of sunshine.

I fear sounding too much like dietcoke here, but,...

If this video is to believed, then what is up with Engadget's Epic 4g review regarding the video recording?
Video capture was less impressive than the still shots. The problem, really, is that this is advertised as a 720p recorder. Yes, true, you can toggle a 720p mode -- but to associate the quality of the output you get with anything you'd consider to be 720p is a complete fallacy. It's just roundly not good at that size. What Samsung probably should've done is cap the output to 480p and quietly offer 1280 x 720 as some sort of "extended resolution" mode, which would've gotten them off the hook at least a little bit. On the plus side, we found audio quality to be decent, though not quite as strong as the Droid 2 or Droid X.

I will say, the video samples Engadget posted are far too jittery for my liking. I'm really interested in seeing the video performance first hand. Aug 31st can't come soon enough!

Samsung makes real digital cameras. HTC doesnt. :) They also make the sensors that go into their digital cameras. They are a vertically integrated company, something you cant say about a start-up like HTC. Samsung has been around for over 60 years.

We all know that Engadget is licking the loo loo of Apple for their paycheck. It doesnt surprise me one bit. I always tell people to take these online reviews with a grain of salt. Use them as a guidance but not as a definitive answer to all things.

I'm thinking that second video was a little shaky because he had too much coffee. The videos look down right awesome compared to the Evo, and I'm very impressed. Although the FPS can always be better, I think this is a wonderful start for the Epic. Perhaps, like the Evo, they will tweak it even further with the Froyo release.
