hello everyone. im new to the droid world but catching on quickly. i have a droid incredible, rooted and updated radio and running skyraider 2.5.2. i am trying to use a custom boot animation from droid boots. i have tried useing adb and it puts the file in data/local but the problem i have is it still runs the one in system/media. i bought the root explorer app and followed another guide to pasting over top of original zip in system/media but then i get a message saying the file being pasted is too large and cannot be completed. i reboot and it hasnt changed still says skyraider. i kno its a boot animation but i dunno its something for me to play around with. any advise would be helpful. thank you

I have done boot animations is all my rom swaps... both in system/customize/resource and now in System/media... and even stock Data/local... look in your root explorer and make sure you are naming them exactly the same as the file that is there... it used to be VZW_bootanimation.zip and VZW_Droid.mp3 ... now its just the stock android bootanimaion.zip/ android_audio.mp3... every rom may be a little different this is just my experience with adryn and stock roms...

not sure if it will let you write to system files if you dont have unrevoked:forever might be the problem...
try this link it is from adryns rom but may also work for your rom to move the animation file back to stock location

i use root explorer and it works great. system/media is where it goes.
my guess is the file you are using is the problem although i have never used a skyraider rom.

i love you

everything i could find said the whole VZW_ in the resource folder

plopped the boot ani in media after buying root explorer and it worked PERFECT (the droid bootscreen, sound and all) <33

i dont see a bootanimation file in system/customize/resource. am i supposed to paste it there now? and two-cents do you know how ur supposed to apply the patch they speak of in the attached post? and im just not comfortable doing the unrevoked forever thing.

plop them into

system/media

like lafester mentioned

worked PERFECT

as far as the unrevoked forever thing goes im pretty much in the same boat as you, i just read up on rooting and all today and tried it out. as lafester mentioned to me in a different thread if you dont do the forever and radio update you lose your video recording though. i just did the forever update a minute ago (took about 2 minutes)

just download it -
put it on your SD root
go to clockwork and chose zip from SD
click ok
and thats it!

about to try to update the radio now
