Yes i got a question i been looking at the forums and i am still confused .....

Well i am wondering am i able to root my moto driod 2.2 stock never been rooted . Because i absoultely hate the new update the only thing that is good about it is the Flash and i wanna root my moto driod 2.2 . But my freind says there is no way to do it because if he did he would on his Sprint HTC Evo and they haven't came out with it yet. So am i wondering am i stuck with this dreadful 2.2 or can i root and if i can can somone please explain to me how ?

Thanks

Forget easyroot! Its supposedly stolen code from droidmod in which the dev charges. Dont support him!

Instead, some devs at XDA have come up with their own app called Universal Androot. Its safe, FREE, and done without any stolen code (as far as anyone can tell so far).

The site to download it at is: universalandroot ????

Its in chinese or something but you should be able to figure out how to download it. Do it from your phone and install it right away.

I've used it already and it worked flawlessly. Took 5 seconds to root my device (had to use it since I accidentally installed the stock 2.2 and lost root - didnt want to have to jump through all the hoops of downgrading, re-rooting, etc)

BTW - descriptions do not list the moto droid as a supported device but it does work. Search around if you are hesitant - other moto droid users have had success as well

Well some one has to have the file some were for download via megaupload or other host

Sharing and even linking to pirated, private/paid apps is against the rules on this forum.

On another note, is easy root still causing recovery issues? The last I heard, almost everyone who used easy root had some sort of issue with the recoveries and had to work very hard to correct the errors.

That's fine. I was just nicely warning you so you don't accidentally get the ban hammer.

Here is the 2.2 rooting guide from this forum: http://androidforums.com/all-things-root-droid/141116-guide-rooting-2-2-windows-linux.html

If you ask around in the All Things Root: Droid forum, you will be able to find many people willing to help you out. You can find that here: All Things Root (Droid) - Android Forums

Finally, I suggest reading everything you can in that whole forum and guide thread and then reading it all 3-5 more times. Make sure you really understand what you are doing before even attempting to root.

If you're so happy with root, why would you flash back to stock? You realize that we have the FRG22 based code, and more importantly, ROMs built from source which is even more up-to-date than FRG22 (FRG22 was pulled at some point from source, so ROMs pulled from source after FRG22 was pulled should be even newer).
