Anyone that in 2010 thinks the PS3 does not have by far and away the best games is clearly a cretin. The only reason people still play the Xbox is because

a) they have invested so much money in Xbox Live fees, Addons, HD-DVD drives and Games, they can't afford to switch

b) their friends are still stuck on it for the same reasons as a).

Of course this irritates them immensely as deep down they know they don't just have the inferior hardware and costly TCO, they also have the inferior games now too.. The only way to make them feel better, is by posting mindless crap like this on random internet forums.

What I am saying is, you mostly see comparisons when it favors the Xbox. When the PS3 is better/faster/more featured, things are mostly brushed under the carpet for fear of upsetting the big site sponsor, and only really when they can't get away with things will they report it as is is (FinalFantasy Xbox vs PS3 springs to mind, and even then the vast differences were played down quite alot).

It's unfortunate that America is so oblivious to all this, as it's part of normal way of life to them, it's only in countries where you have rules and legislation to prevent this corporate dishonesty, is the few places you can see it.

Actually I would disagree, anyone that's even been on Xbox Live will know how bad things are. I have both systems, my PS3 gets almost all my gameplay these days, the Xbox games I play have all dried up and are generally better on PS3. The one big difference is that the PS3 community is generally much more mature, Xbox Live is full of annoying kids.

It's also worth noting that it was a Xbox Troll that started this thread.

As for that Destructoid blog, thats just a pile of Garbage. Sony fanboys are rightly very upset. The PS3 is by far the best console, with the best exclusive games and outstanding reliability and featureset (and value for money). Compared to the pile of unreliable crap that Microsoft rushed out and inflicted on this gaming generation, or the last-gen Gamecube rehash that Nintendo offered us, it's an insult that it's currently (but only just) in 3rd place this generation.

You only have to look at how the on-line blogs have treated the PS3 this generation and it's clear to see favortism by the American media, supporting the American console and the American $$$$$. It was clear the media (and in particular the American media) were out to get Sony, why? Because they launched their console when it was feature complete and fully tested? Is that suddenly a crime? Should they have scrapped the Blu-Ray drive, bunged a DVD in there, and canceled the test program like Microsoft did? Would the press have loved them then? Of course not, they would be the first to complain too. The American media REALLY embarrasses me, it's truly abysmal.

Not really much fairytales. It's universally accepted that the Xbox failure rate, even on newer units is somewhere north of 50% depending on what data you use. It's also accepted that the PS3 is somewhere south of 1%.

Of course there will be people that buck that trend, as thats what trends are.... I wish I bucked the Lottery trend.

The flowchart the OP posted is amusing, but it's not that far off the mark. With the PS3 having no cross-game chat, no private voice chat, no party mode, not having cross-game invites in all games and so on, it really isn't set up for quality online gaming like the 360 and PC are.

As for the PS3 failure rate being less than 1%, I beg to differ. The YLOD and BROD are extremely common. I'd say the failure rate of the older models is closer to 50%, based on some of the polls I've seen. Of the people I know with a PS3, I'm the only one that hasn't had one fail. There's a poll on AV Forums (another site that Mgillespie is banned from, lol) and the PS3 failure rate among members of that site is over 40% and it doesn't take into account repeat failures. Some fanboys will believe that they want to believe, regardless of all of the evidence to the contrary.

Well they have taken a statement and twisted it.

Because of this, there are some differences from one platform to the next. I would also beg to differ about the long list of games that are inferior on the PS3. Out of the hundreds of titles, there are a handful on each system that are notificbly better on one system or another. FinalFantasy on Xbox was so bad that Microsoft had to resort to using the PS3 footage to advertise the game....

MS was so focused on beating Sony this cycle that the 360 was rushed to market when all indications were that it had serious flaws. The design qual testing was insufficient and incomplete when the product was released to production. The manufacturing test equipment had major gaps in test coverage and wasn't reliable or repeatable. Manufacturing processes at eall levels of suppliers were immature and not in control. Initial end to end yields were in the mid 30%. Low yields always indicate serious design and manufacturing defects. Management chose to continue to ship anyways, and keep the lines running while trying to solve problems and bring the yields up. Whenever something failed and there was a question about whether the test result was false, they would remove that test

In short: Microsoft knew the machine was broken, but they also know that being first to market, and that American gamers were stupid and buy whatever Microsoft told them to buy, they could cover the problems with marketing gloss and make them go away.

Mafia II may be worse on PS3 compared to the PC version, but then so will the Xbox version. It does not really bother me that on occasion a poor port comes along, as with a PS3 and PC, I have the best platform coverage, I get all the PS3 exclusives (which totally outclass anything the Xbox has to offer), and I also get all the Xbox games too, but in their PC version, which are almost always superior too.

PS3/PC combo = the best of both worlds (best console exclusives, best Xbox versions on PC)
Xbox/PC combo = a crappy combo (no PS3 titles, and Xbox exclusives better on the PC)

You do know that the 360 has more true exclusives (i.e. games that can't be played anywhere else) than the PS3, don't you? It always makes me laugh when someone that isn't very well educated on these matters makes the statement that they can play "all the Xbox games" on a PC. Pure ignorance. It's well established that they not only cherrypick games to compare, but even what bits of games to compare. Just like you are cherrypicking one game (Mafia II)...

The bottom line is this, the PS3 and Xbox are very different inside. When the PS3 is not hobbled by the constraints of the Xbox, it shows it's true colours. A look at any PS3 exclusive will show this, it totally blows anything on Xbox out of the water. Visuals in Uncharted2, Killzone2, Heavy Rain etc etc etc make the Xbox look last-generation. That is what really upsets you.

My favorite bit of this whole scenario that he seems to not understand is that many of us here that respond to these threads own all three consoles and a gaming PC which ultimately would make us qualified critics of the issue at hand since we have all the gaming platforms available to us.
