Root Oh No!!! Your phone is totally screwed up!! (read this)

so, i dont want to sound like a jerk here at all. there is nothing wrong with asking for a little help. as a matter of fact, you'll find a lot of people are sitting around here today just answering questions and helping people out. so, if someone helps you out of a jam, thank em.

that said, i think it's been proven over and over in the last 24 hours that even though your situation may seem dire, there is likely an easy fix that you missed, a simple step you overlooked (ie, transferring the .ini, or doing a data wipe before flashing.)

there seem to be 1,000,001 new threads popping up that all sound almost exactly the same. I KNOW YOU'RE SCARED. i know you want to get your dx fixed asap. but, the fix is likely something simple you're overlooking in your haste to get your phone working again.

again, dont worry, the answer is out there. i doubt YOU are not the first person that is going to brick your phone doing this. your phone isnt doing something especially stupid. you're probably just missing something. so, please read some of the threads from the last 24 hours looking for the answer. i know it's kinda a pain to parse thru all this stuff when you're on the edge of your seat, but the answer is here.

if you honestly did that, and you dont see an answer, by all means, post a question. there are plenty of people here that will be glad to post an answer.

ok, i'll get off my soapbox. i know i'm fairly new here, and probably have little right to ask all this of another person on here, but i cant be the first one thinking this, right?

good luck, and happy flashing.

I agree to read, read, read that is how I learned. I read these forums everyday since december and I didn't even register till May. With rooting, ROMing and theming the D1 of course I had trouble but instead of making a new thread I read and figured it out myself and that is how I learned.

Having said that, it is perfectly okay to ask questions:D

couldnt agree more. this is the first forum i have ever been a part of (phone, computer, motorcycle, car) that a new member can come in, ask a question that has been asked 100 times in 100 different ways, and not get flamed with posts including little pictures of the search button.

i think it's pretty great. this is one of the better communities i have been a part of. i just think one is likely better off looking for the answer before posting the question. even though i know most do, i just think that a lot of them need to calm down and realize they arent going to be the first person bricking their phone since the 2.2 release. someone before has likely already made their mistake. and, it should be easy to find since the issue is so fresh. they likely wont even have to go past page one to find the answer.

+1 to you guys. AF has been a great forum and the majority of the folks who hang-around here are very helpful and patient. I haven't been reading all of the threads here in the Droid X root subforum, but the ones that I have read, there have been lots of great replies by folks like droider13 guiding people through their troubles. The guide and mods also do a great job keeping things moving along nicely. Kudos to this forum and its great members!

Good on all of ya! :D

[sorry, that was my best, bad Aussie accent, in case you couldn't tell ]

percect answer i was just about to say that, thats what ive always done. now if i find a problem that no one has coverd or said something about then i will post it to see if someone else had that same issue. reading is your best friend, i think people learn more that way by reading and doing it hands on.;)

yep if you figure it out yourself you learn more and you actually get what you are doing

Then again if no one is asking questions what would we do:D

yeah your phone is not gonna blow up if it has to wait 20 more mins to get froyo:D

Can you post a link to that info I could have sworn my phone was smoking at 19 minutes?

No offense but I don't trust anyone that can multi quote:rolleyes:

I like to say though that there are times (like yesterday) where the board fills up with lots of post and many times one thread or post may contradict another and many just want clarification.

Sometimes reading too much is just as bad as not reading enough.

Sticky's though are a good place to start and generally have the best and correct info.
