Root Benefits of froyo on eris?

I'll go with the pros
Improved market
-Auto-update of apps
-An update all button
-Apps get automatically restored by market whenever you wipe/flash a 2.2 rom.

Overall snappy and fast and the best battery life I've ever seen (Almost 2 days for me)

Were this KasoFroyo a few versions ago I would have some cons for you, but on V30 it's pretty much in it's prime and well polished. (Well the 3d gallery does bug out sometimes when rotating to landscape mode, but Kaos is constantly improving on it, or you can use the 2d gallery)

+1

Those are improvements over 2.1.

Just keep in mind that we Eris owners are a population of users with a wide range of hardware and assembly quality from Eris to Eris. Some devices just don't run 2.2 well (keeping in mind that Froyo was not originally intended for our 528Mhz CPU no matter the quality ;)).

Of all of the ROMs I've had on mine, the Froyos have been the only ones which have required overclocking to get the OS to run comparable to the better 2.1 ROMs.

Ymmv, but so many ROMs tested on both sides have kept delivering to me the same message: at least 710Mhz is needed to run 2.2 without it seeming sluggish, "heavy" and less responsive than xtrROM or Aloysius not overclocked, for example.

I would agree on the following
-Auto-update of apps
-An update all button
-Apps get automatically restored by market whenever you wipe/flash a 2.2 rom.

That stuff is definately nice. And hte fact that froyo is the cream of the crop right now.

But one thing i didnt like is battery life. It still got me through most of the day, i just didnt like the fact that other roms like xtrROM are 5x as better. Although it doesnt have the sleekness of froyo, ill just have to settle.

For instance on kaosfroyo the battery would drain 1-2% if i was using it for 3-5mins of wifi browsing. And also when the phone would be sitting in standby for 3 hours, hte battery would drain about 5%, where xtrROM would just drop 1%.

Gmail is also better on Froyo. It has some better features, including a snapping header, making it easier to star and reply to messages; you can select and copy text in a message; you can have notifications for individual messages rather than a single notification until you enter the app or clear the notification out. (In other words, 2.1 and earlier would notify you once when the first mail message hit your inbox, and would not vibrate or sound again until you cleared it, even if you received several messages.)

FWIW, battery life on kaos froyo is no different than any other ROM I have run. They are all pretty much the same for me.

how does one wipe the battery stats?

You'll see that choice on the list when selecting "wipe" in recovery mode.
