I just want a standard 1Ghz, 3.7+ inch, non 4G Android phone... EVERYONE has 'em but SPRINT!

Verizon: Droid Incredible, Droid X, Droid2, Samsung Fascinate (coming)

T-mobile: Nexus One, Samsung Vibrant

At&t: Samsung Captivate, iPhone (not android, but what the hay)

Sprint... NONE!

I just want a standard 1Ghz, 3.7+ inch, NON 4G Android phone. With Sprint, it seems like: either pay $10/month, or get a low-end Android phone. C'mon... HTC Hero, Samsung Moment, Samsung Intercept all can't compete with the Incredible, Vibrant, Captivate, etc.

Does anyone know if we will be getting any phones like that in the future? I would drop my HTC Hero in a split second if one came out before my 2 year contract ends (which I would not have started had I known that going with ANY OTHER carrier would guarantee a 1GHz, non-4G phone).

It wouldn't make sense for Sprint to offer a non-Wimax phone that can do everything else. The only reason the other carriers offer it is because they do not have LTE up and running.

I really think the complaints about the $10 are going to drop as soon as the other carriers start offering LTE. LTEs going to come at a premium via tiered pricing. Tiered pricing's going to allow others to give the impression they aren't raising their prices, but it will be ridiculous to try to stay under the 2G data limits as more and faster data access via forms of 4G come online.

Yes! I want the same thing! I love my husbands i1 because of the size and no physical keyboard but OS 1.5 is a joke, plus the fact it's on Iden and not CDMA. And I really don't want to pay $10 more a month for 4g when I don't even have it here. You should be able to choose whether you want 4g or not. Not to mention all the new (4g) phones are huge! Not everyone wants to watch movies on their phones and might not want to carry a briefcase to hold their phones ya know Sprint! ;)

Call me crazy, but I think Sprint should give us a choice of whether we want a 3G superphone or a 4G superphone. For those who want the speed boost of 4G, let them get phones such as the Evo or Epic. But right now, Sprint is basically forcing customers to get 4G and I dont like that.

Once all other carriers get 4G, they will still have that choice. Sure every phone from that point forward may be 4G only, but customers can always use previously released phones (i.e. Incredible, Captivate, Vibrant).

Sprint came on early with the 4G, so all phones that are powerful were in time for 4G, so they should make it up by releasing at least one non-4G 1Ghz phone. That would be only fair. Sprint is very close to losing at least one more customer...

Why would Sprint release a phone that can't take advantage of their new 4G strategy? From a business perspective, the more people they can get on 4G and eventually LTE or Wimax 2, the better off they are. As 4G becomes more prominent within the US, less and less people will be utilizing the 3G band for Data leaving it for more and more voice calls.

For somebody in your situation it may suck to pay that extra $10 (even though it's cheaper than almost everybody else period) but Sprint is a business and sometimes you have to make business decisions.

why would you not want a 4g phone. you never know when the day is going to come that they light your town, or you move to a town tha thas it.

I'm gonna call BS on this. Where I live, I can't even get 3g coverage. I think that they should complete one network to have total coverage before they worry about forcing everyone to pay for coverage they won't have for a long time. I am not moving to better my service. Maybe They are planning to have 4g everywhere, before they have 3g, but I doubt it. 10 dollars a month to have the same phone as everyone else is BS, IMO.
