Accessories Review: Seidio Innocase II & Clip Holster Combo

I'm very interested in this case, but the pictures the OP attached has me a bit worried about the quality of this product.

Also, look at the pictures Seidio shows online for the product, they differ quite a bit from the OP's pictures. The Seidio site shows the case wrapping tighter around the front of the phone. Where as the OP's pic shows the case not even surrounding the speaker up top.

Anyone else notice this? I have a Seidio on my TP and love it, and have been waiting for the Hero version... but now I'm not sure this is what I want.

I'm pretty sure the picture Seidio shows online is just a black overlay. It looks like they went into MS Paint and put black all around the phone. Look close at it.

The Body Glove case in the pictures (the one Sprint sells) is a hard case with a rubberized outer surface. It would probably offer a little more protection from drops, but the one I saw hit the ground popped open and the phone went flying.

Describing bulkiness is such an objective thing, so bulky to me might not be bulky to you. But I didn't like my phone with the Body Glove case on it. It was more the size of one of the "freebie" phones with a slide-out keyboard and the rubberized exterior made it hard to get out of a pocket or case. I carried my phone in the Body Glove for about 2 days before I ditched the case and carried the phone bare until I got the Innocase.

But the innocase doesn't strike me as bulky at all. The phone almost feels and looks the same size with the case on as off but once again, that's my opinion.

But wait! I have a digital caliper! :D

Phone in Body Glove = 4.643" tall, 2.405" wide, 0.804" thick.
Phone in Innocase = 4.560" tall, 2.328" wide, 0.640" thick.
Bare phone = 4.465" tall, 2.225" wide, 0.556" thick.

And there you have it. Empirical data instead of objective observation. :) Perhaps the most notable fact is the phone is almost a full quarter inch thicker in the Body Glove than bare, and that's what it felt like in my pocket and hand.

Pete

Thanks a lot Pete, another great and very detailed review, much appreciate it. :)

The only discount they have now is free shipping, can't find anything else out there, anyone else find any discount codes?

Just received an Epik case for the Tmbile my touch 3G ($4.90 Shipped from ebay), I thought to give it a try since they don't have a Hero case yet, the case is a perfect fit but needs some modifications, the mic, speaker, and the headset jack all all covered, but everything else matches, even the camera hole, will post an update after modifications.

Any pics? I might be interested in an official Hero version myself. They look awesome. I found a link to their website and the non-Spint version of the Hero.

Zombie Scott, after few tries to make it work, it didn't.

I was able to get the mic hole and headset hole with a hole puncher with no problems, but the case was pressing on the volume control on the side since it didn't align there and would put the phone in silent mode, I gave up on this case, if I was you or anyone considering doing the same to wait till the official Hero case.

The good news that I will be getting my innocase tomorrow :D

Just to give you guys a heads up I wouldent reccomend ordering from mobilecityonline they are a bit cheaper but I placed my order on the 16th and they still have no idea when they are coming in.

I was about to make a similar post. I ordered mine on the 19th since it was $10 cheaper than ordering directly from Seidio. At that time, both were on pre-order. However, it seems Seidio has started shipping the case and I assumed MobilCity Online would start soon after. I'm about ready to cancel my order with them and just order it from Seidio.

I've been using the Seidio Innocase II and holster combo with my Hero for two weeks now and I can't come up with anything even remotely bad to say about it. Those of you who have also read my post in the "Carrying your Hero" thread know that I typically make a custom leather holster for my phones, but I like the Seidio combo so much that I'll probably skip that for this phone.

'Nuff said lest I start sounding like a broken record.

I just removed my month old Zagg full body sheild and put this one back on.

Had it on for the first week to protect it while I waited on the Zagg sheild, which had become disgusting with lint and grime under and between corners, where it was losing adhesion. I hated the rubbery orange peel texture of it and the screen lost a lot of clarity as a result. Not worth calling in for a free replacement.

After reading the threads about how well the naked Hero screen resists scratches, I am leaving mine as is. I forgot how incredibly smooth it is!

I like the Innocase and the clip but it may end up on my Christmas list if it doesnt get cheaper soon. Can't argue with my $6 ebay case for now, even if it's a tad bulkier and lower quality.

Thanks for the great review!

Sorry to be the lone pooper at this Seidio party, but I figure we all like to hear varying opinions on topics....especially accessories.

I ordered my Innocase 2 weeks ago, and was really excited when I received it. But the excitement waned when I put it on my phone, and it just didn't feel right. It wasnt' as grippy as I thought it would be. Also, the point on the side where the two tabs slide together and meet up never sat quite right and would actually stay lifted up. The case just didnt seem to fit as tight as i liked, and I thought the gap in the two parts of the case was too visible. My friend has the iphone one, and that one fits perfectly. You could barely tell there was a case on the phone.

I only had it for a day before I contacted them for a return. The case itself is very thin, and maybe if it fit together front to back, instead of top to bottom, I probably would've kept it. But for $30, I expected better....just my .02 for what it's worth in this economy :p

I noticed in some of the pics the seidio case didnt look like it matched up that well also. I had a seidio case for my treo pro and it was awesome and still is. I got a cheap ($15) hard rubber case for my hero at the mall and it seems to be fine. It fits tight but the edges are slightly off leaving a tiny lip. Hardly noticable. I havent dropped it yet so I dont know if the case will pop off or not. Kinda scared to try. lol. I want the seidio but im not big on the raised back and how it doesnt for around the ear speaker better.

For those interested, here's a bit of money savings from another vendor for the same product:

Seidio Innocase II Surface Combo for HTC Sprint Hero at MobileCityOnline.com

It would appear that the only purchasing option through this vendor is a pre-order, as it is not currently stocked.

Although they try to incentivize pre-ordering by providing free shipping, I'd rather pay the extra $10 and shipping to ensure that I recieve my case in a somewhat timely fashion.

I don't like the idea of being left in the dark as to when i'm going to recieve something, particularly when I've already paid for it.

For those of you trying to purchasing from the SeidioOnline website, and wanting to save money...

I contacted a CSR using the Live Chat button on their website, and after chatting back and forth for a couple of minutes, he informed me that if I emailed him the details of my order after placing it, he'd discount me 10% on the case, and 15% on the combo.

I'd post the chatlog, but it's pretty boring. If you don't mind spending a couple of minutes asking about savings in a chat window to save a few bucks, maybe you should give this a shot.

Hi all!

I just got my Sprint HTC Hero a week ago. So far, I love it! It's my first smartphone and also the first time I've had texting and data. I had to switch a few things around in my pockets, but the phone fits just fine. I bought the HTC silicone case at Best Buy when I got the phone. Since it seems to be rather flimsy and a magnet for lint/dust/hair, I started looking for a higher quality case.

The Seidio Innocase II has certainly caught my attention. The review PGR posted above with the pics is great! The Body Glove case looks good, too, but it's very obvious from the pics that it adds a significant amount of bulk. The Innocase II looks to offer great protection while adding very little bulk. I really like that it has a felt material inside.

Could anyone please comment on whether the Innocase II picks up a lot of dust/lint/hair/debris/etc?

Just an FYI for other users. Before I ordered this I chatted with a seido rep online. I asked them if the upcoming 3500mAh battery would be compatibile with the innocase holster and the person told me no. And that the bottom line was that if you wanted to carry the hero on your belt with that extended battery you would have to use a leather pouch case. So if you are going to buy this but are looking at the extended battery, make sure you know that the holster(and the case of course) won't work with it. With that side, this is a pretty nice setup.
