Help droid x 2.2 task killer

On my original Droid I have found (after trying just about every task manager available) that Android does a good enough job on it's own. On the Droid X, with much more available memory that it's older sibling, I would imagine it would be even less of an issue. Advanced Task Killer did seem to do a good job but again, I had less problems using no task killer.

Why not just use the back button to get out of those apps? Pretty sure using the back button (instead of the home button) actually closes those apps down, also, google maps and the browser should not be putting hardly any drain on your battery, if they are, then theres something wrong with your phone....I never kill either of them and have great battery life.

I read somewhere...don't ask me where, I don't remember (google will help here), anyhow I read that in 2.2, tasks were being handled differently and it would both eliminate the need for task killers and also make most of them no longer function. If I can find that info, I'll come back to post.

Update: Found it - http://androinica.com/2010/08/09/froyo-update-kills-android-task-killer-apps/

That is one link. Google has a bunch more

Don't worry if apps are still on in the background. They aren't doing anything and won't affect your battery. The only thing going to affect your battery is if you have like a streaming music program open in the background or your facebook open and set to update every 30 minutes. Only programs that are actually doing something or set to do something will use any battery. If they're just sitting there not doing anything they are affecting anything.
