Ok so after playing with a lot of different settings on my phone to optimize battery life and performance I think I've come up with the perfect set up. And the biggest is my SetCPU settings . When the SetCPU profiles aren't active the phone is runnign at 1.15mhz

Here are list of pictures of setting and also pics of Quadrant and battery life outcomes

Note that the Quadrant Score and SetCPU pics weren't taken at the same time. But were taken with the same settings

I should have said this is on a stock 1300mah battery
WiFi -- ON
Screen -- Max Brightness
Sync -- ON
BlueTooth -- ON
GPS -- On when needed (did use turn by turn nav for about 20-30minutes and GPS a few other times )

Now this wasn't HEAVY USE but it was definetly my normal daily moderate use. I streamed the last few innings of a White Sox loss on AT BAT playing thru a Bluetooth adapter. Listened to MP3 for a good 45minutes with Bluetooth , lots of texts, email, facebook, some phone calls etc..

Now I read on hydra's website that they dont recommend using setCPU with their kernels. They say to rely on their governor. I would like to use setCPU but im a little worried it might brick my phone or something.

Also, isnt the hydrakernel #4 the 1.13 ocuv OV?

YEah it is, I'm running the #2 I might have not grabbed the wrong picture.

I am not playing with the KingHavs #2 Rom, with Adrenylens PB&J Rom but the Kernal won't let me run at 1.19ghz it freezes my phone almost instantly .

Ok Ive plugged in your settings and will see how this turns out. For the record of future posts I am on Skyraider 2.5.2 (vanilla), hydrakernel ocuv 1.13 #3, 2.15 radio, s-off.

Can't wait to see how these settings work on Skyraider

I still need to update my radio . I'm using the same settingswith the new kernal and vanilla rom but so far I'm not that happy with either especially the KingKernal . Seems like it's performing slightly faster and the battery is looking good at 74% with 8hrs up not sure my awake as my phone has restarted it self twice which is where my unhappiness lies

Ya I tried the kingskernel and it would freeze my phone up when it was on the 1.19ghz. Did you reset the battery stats before this test? If so how do you do that?

Set Cpu and hydra kernels don't play nice, at least for me. The phone gets sluggish after a few hours and STAYS THAT WAY, no matter what I do. Once I uninstall everything is better.

This goes with what their website says. Ill keep it on and see if I notice some performance hits.

  1. I recommend not using the setcpu controls or governor with these kernels. Let the stock governor do the work. If you have setcpu installed I recommend clearing out the settings before flashing the kernels. You can use it to monitor cpu speeds or an app from the market called systempanel if so desired.

i've done pretty much the same thing, but with a few minor tweaks - i start stepping down from 1152 at 75% battery, and do so gradually from there (70%, 60%, 50% (this is where i finally get back to the stock clock speed), 35%, 25%, 17%, 10%). all my profiles are set to conservative...and my screen off goes to 499 rather than 384. other than that though, this definitely works...it has helped my battery life tremendously.

some of my step downs are probably overkill...i just started overlocking this weekend, so i'm still experimenting with what settings work best...

on another note: where'd you get the battery indicator? does it show the numbers in 1% increments? i have battery indicator running but i'd love to replace the stock battery indicator if possible...

SetCPU works fine with Hydra Kernals it's also working fine with KingKernal at least for me they have. I'll be rooting a two Incredibles this week and I will do the same set up on both so we'll see if they have a problem with it or not
The battery life I'm getting out of my 1300 is very close to what I got with my 2150 battery with my phone completely stock 2.2.

Crackers--- I can't remember where I got the battery indicator at , I downloaded it awhile ago. But if you send me your email I'll send you the file for it, simple install zip from Recovery.

I use SetCPU with Hydra and it works fine haven't had any problems over the last 2months . I didn't play with it much at first but now that I have , I kinda feel stupid for not. Instead of wasting your money on batteries Install a good undervolting kernal and set up some good profiles . It's like adding an extended battery to your phone. I will eventually give my 3500 a go with these settings, which I was getting 50+hrs on before undervolting or installing any SetCPU profiles

Sorry, I am a noob. Do I change those setting using SetCPU? I am not familiar with the program, and I read it is not recommended for Hydra kernels (I have the overclocked one).

Yes change the profiles with SetCPU it can be downloaded from the Marketplace for I think $1.99.

I know that Hydra website doesn't reccomend it but I know some pretty good developers have said they use SetCPU with the kernals and it's working out pretty good.

With that said , you are messing with the factory setting of a phone by rooting to begin with this is just another thing your messing with. I'm not promising anything .
