Latitude???

Just to clarify, you don't need to have your GPS turned on for latitude to report your position. I keep my GPS off and latitude uses the cell phone tower location to update my position.

As far as not updating, obviously if the phone is turned off it won't update. A user can go into latitude and turn off updating (on a global level or per user). Android phones have Latitude running in the background, so it should be fairly up to date.

I am not sure about this...yes i know cell towers can affix your position. My wife's GPS has been off for a couple months (She's not a power user) and I cannot locate her in latitude....she is stale.

I'll have to check but her last update on my latitude shows Aug 14th...and it shows her about two miles from our house...that could be where the cell tower is???

Yeah, that is probably the cell tower. I'm not sure what else you can check to see why her location isn't updating. I keep my gps off and a friend keeps his gps off and we both see each other on Latitude and our locations automatically update.
