Have you tried Astrid for Android? Astrid is an awesome ToDo list/Reminder app. It can send your reminders to your calendar, AND it syncs with Remember the Milk (for free).

As for notepads, I like using NoteEverything, and 3Banana.

I did look at Astrid early on, but since RTM syncs with GCal and I can also share it, it's working okay. Reminders are a bit fiddly - I'm working with my calendar now. Maybe I should check it out again.

NoteEverything and 3Banana: I tried both - I'm missing outlining and categories.

It will come...it will come.

Maybe I should start an App Wishlist thread!

If 3Banana had the ability to create multiple "notebooks" like Evernote does, I would use only 3banana. At least until the Evernote app is out of beta!!!

I'm glad to see someone detailing what apps they believe are missing from the Market, rather than just pointing out that iPhone has a bazillion more apps. Quantity is irrelevant if the apps you want are there. If the apps you want aren't there, "more" is not the answer either.

I'm completely excited to see android take off, and personally I'm far more interested in quality. Id be happy if the market had fifty apps if they were super slick.

(ETA: it is fun to dig through the flea-market though. Sometimes you find a bright spot of creativity!)

That app in and of itself makes the Droid > iPhone.

Its bad enuf to let gmail have a lot of your data - but what happens to your data in 3banana ? Would there be a limit to how much notes?

Yup, PDAnet is amazingly easy, install a client on the Droid and the PC, turn it on the phone, plug it in via USB or bluetooth hookup, enable the client on the PC and BOOM, tethered internet connection =)

I tested speedtest.net out here with only 2 3G bars and I get a good solid connection of around 115 kb/s.

Also, you can ONLY view http/s websites you cannot download using PDAnet unless you pay for it.

Its an amazing app and makes the Droid far and above superior to the iPhone for me =)

Thanks - don't understand view vs download? Isnt accessing the net the same as upload/download?

I never used a iPhone but just from chatter - seems that Droid is a tiny linux open pc with phone,cam, etc

Well, I havent tried it but I am pretty sure the program limits the browser to get http links. Maybe it will do downloads *shrug*

I have not tried and probably wont anytime soon, it does everything I need to with tethering without having to pay more.

Katahdin: Not sure I understand you, why would you think it only works on the Droid? I am using NoteEverything (Free version) on my HTC Magic ,and yes, I can export and import notes to/from my SD card.

As for 3Banana, well, that's up to you. You don't _have_ to sync your notes to the web account, but it can be handy. You can just use it on the phone. Also, Evernote is working on an Android app, they have a beta you can try now from their web site.

LOL - if we combine, NoteEverything,AK notes, GooMemo, 3Banana,gDocs ... it might have what we want !!

Actually I'm looking for a secure sync that makes it easy to create or edit the notes/memos from the PC as well as the android. I think that's is the memo function that ex palm users are looking for.

I think of evernote like google notebook - a large repository of info, web sites etc - whereas I ;see; memos/notes as specific smaller data. I should rethink that !! Oh one other feature that I find to be necessary - is being able to do a charcter string search on the data - in the android - but I recently found aurura - so maybe thats the solution and it doesnt need to be part of the notes pkg.

People don't take into consideration the iPhone released years ago... Android is still in it's early phases of development..

I still have yet to desire an app that isn't on the market somewhere...

Very true Android is just entering into the market share. When the iphone first came out I do not know exactly how many apps they had but its taken this long to get that many. And think about it how many of those apps are really worth it. they might seem cool at first but most of them are pointless or boring. I am the only one in my family that is on Sprint and everyone else has the Iphone. I get so tired of them talking about the iphone and there apps have you tried this have you tried that app. Then I try them myself its cool for a few minutes but then bored or not interested in it. I know people too that have spents hundreds on the apps for the iphone which to me is ridiculous, they say its great but its almost like youve spent that much money on this phone, apps and service you gotta like it cause your stuck with it. lol sorry if this went a little off track. I like to hear more from people that went from iphone to android and there thoughts.

Quality is better than quantity. unless your a sizequeen. Im sure it is difficult for some developers since they might not be getting paid alot to make these apps. Some do it for free or just for fun. I am sure Apple is spending alot to get apps done.

the iPhone didn't come out of nowhere. It is based on the mac os x and the mac has been around for quite some time.
