Huh? I have no idea what you're talking about...

According to the pre-release hype, that white connector on the bottom of the tablet is the power connector.

Froyo Shown Running on Samsung Galaxy Tab Along With Swype

Unless the final product also supports charging over USB then this is what owners of the tablet will need to use in order to charge the battery.

Sorry, what I meant was the reason they use such a connector is so you, the person who buys the tablet/iphone/ipod uses THEIR connector instead of the $3 usb cable at Fry's or where ever when you loose the one that came with it.

I bet it's a USB power cable, using that connector. Looks an awful like an APPLE STYLE CORD WITH "Samsung" stuck on it.

Ah... no worries!

If it were being built for EU or Asia I'd likely agree with you... but if it's being built for sale in the U.S. then it's still likely very proprietary in nature. Most major manufacturers are moving towards a consistant USB interface... outside of the U.S. Go figure?!

i am already getting an android phone, a samsung galaxy phone, at that. i really don't need to pay the extra fee and be in a contract to a carrier to get this tablet. no thanks.

it's good looking, looks like fun and possibly an all-around best 7" tablet, so i would get it in heartbeat, but not under contract to a carrier.

It would have to cost at least $550 off-contract. The Galaxy S phone sell for that much so it obvious that the tablet version should cost more than the phone version. I am thinking $300 on contract and $650 off-contract

My suspicion is that VZW will keep the pricing comparable to that of the iPad. It's their first mainstream competitor to the iPad so I'm thinking that they are not wanting the pricing to be more than the competition.

What would be really cool is if VZW and Samsung got together and dropped the pricing below the iPad... a direct frontal assault as it were. I'm doubtful that this'll happen especially considering that VZW might be selling an iPhone next year.

Verizon won't carry it. They will carry the Motorola tablet slated for Black Friday release.

Again, it will have to cost more than the current phone you have now, the Droid X. The Droid X sells for $549 off contract. Contract $200. It will be highly unusual for them (or anyone) to sell a tablet cheaper than their phone counterpart; considering it will be used less.

Everyone who think they will get a $300 7" capacitive tablet off contract is dreaming. Just look at the Dell Streak as an example.

You sure about this? Supposedly Vodaphone is looking at carrying the Samsung Galaxy tab. As we all know, VZW and Vodaphone are connected at the hip. I would have figured that if Vodaphone got it, Verizon would too...

Edit: Slashgear seems to indicate that the Samsung Galaxy tab is coming to Verizon. That said... I'm not sure that I believe Slashgear...

Har. This is what I've been wondering about. Makes me want to go ahead and buy a ZT-180 right now. Makes sense that the tablets would probably not be cheaper than a phone contract. And I hate phone contracts with a passion (their costs and the fact they are contracts)

You could be right. I just saw the leaked CDMA spy photos of the samsung. However, the motorola version seems to be the more anticipated device on verizon.
