Animated Caller Pictures

On my old Samsung t809 I found out that I could record a short video of the person and make that pop up as the picture when that person called me.

and it wasn't that smart of a phone!

The Vibrant seems to only have just pictures...

Ideas?

You could probably take the video, convert it on your PC/Mac to an animated gif and see if that works.

As far as I am aware, Android does not support animated .gifs yet. You would need some kind of third party app.

Wow, I just gave it a shot an you are right. Samsung must have written gif support into the gallery app or something. I don't think any other android phone can display animated gifs. Anyone else know of another?

Nope. I just loaded about 20 different ones onto my phone and assigned them one at a time to my wife and had her call.. None worked.. It just displayed the first frame.

They're too preoccupied trying to get rid of their framerate caps ever since the GalaxyS came out and 'pwned' everyone's phones' 3D performance by a factor of 4.

If my old Blackberry Bold 9000 could play them, any Android should be able...??

I like this one... I would probably assign this caller ID pic to my boss.
