So, I switched to the Droid X after a ton of hassle, but I'm not impressed.

How can I compare the two to really show me how the Droid X is truly better?

There are a couple of things that are nice, like the camera settings, bigger screen.... umm?

Hardware, I haven't really compared "benchmarks" or anything with the two. The DX has presumably better hardware (processor, and dedicated video card?), but the stock launcher doesn't seem to complement it.

The stock launcher is choppy and slow, we all know that. Compared to HTC sense... it's crap. So I am running Launcher Pro right now, and it's working out better, but it's still not HTC Sense.

I've owned it for 4 days and it has locked up, freezed, and rebooted by itself twice. Don't know how or why this happened.

I use it often to listen to music. While the lock screen option for music is nice, it seems buggy to me. I've had my music randomly stop for no reason, then when I try to get back to the homescreen, launcher, or anything, it'll freeze for a bit.

So here I am, wondering what's amazing?

Switch back if you don't like it. I thought Sense was awesome. But now that I'm customizing my docks and stuff with Launcher Pro Plus, I won't go back to Sense UI. Did you clear out all your icons and widgets from all your homescreens on MotoBlur before you switched over to LP?

Do I really have to do that? Clear the old homescreens?

Yes. Launcher Pro runs on top of the old launcher. Clear out the old homescreens and make sure it's not running a live wallpaper.

I have a factory fresh DX next to me (just refreshed it with the SBF yesterday). Cleaned out the old homescreens, installed Launcher Pro and it's running like butter now. Okay, the lock screen is still jerky but I seem to have less of a fetish for a smooth lockscreen than some around here :D

The stock launcher of the X does run at a low frame rate for some reason. This has been confirmed to be fixed in Froyo however. Don't confuse this with the actual hardware inside the X, it very much is another generation ahead of the Incredible.

Launcher Pro is not an extremely stable launcher(Only stock launchers are very reliable). If anyone is running a custom launcher and has frequent crashes, there's a 90% chance the launcher was the cause. Most apps on the market were not designed with a custom launcher like that in mind.

Droid X has the following over the Droid Incredible

1. Better reception(Anecdote: I can get 3G service in an area with my X where my Incredible didn't get any service at all)
2. Better call quality(X has noise cancellation, Incredible does not)
3. Better picture quality
4. Better video quality
5. Screen is more visible in sunlight
6. Larger screen
7. Better software keyboard
8. It's made of metal instead of very flimsy plastic
9. Significantly better battery life
10. Runs all apps better as a result of the more powerful CPU and much more powerful GPU(The difference is EXTREMELY noticeable in 3D games, the Incredible is not even in the same league when it comes to 3D performance)
11. Dedicated camera launcher button
12. Hardware buttons on the front
13. Screen is true 16:9, the Incredible's is not
14. Taking the battery cover off of the X doesn't give you the feeling that you will probably break the battery cover soon like the Incredible does

I can't say it enough, Sense UI is overrated IMO. However if it's such a deal breaker, give it back and get what works for you. For me the screen size alone is reason enough to never go back to anything smaller. As for the stock launcher being slow. It's not slow. People are confusing jittery animation with slow. Apps launch just as fast and if you use the little dots to switch home pages, it's lightning quick. Again jittery animation does not equal slow, even though many perceive it to be. I've gone back and forth between ADW, Launcher and the stock UI and app launch speed is about the same on all. It's just the other launchers are smoother and have more features. Also the lock screen animation lags on all the UIs, it's a minor bug they haven't totally addressed yet.

^..... Kind of has a point. My suggestion would be to quit belly-achen and enjoy your phone. I for one, love phone. I too, came from the Incredible. I like the Sense a lot, but there are things on the X that I like better. I think that the "contacts" flows better. The Swype app is wonderful. The screen is actually clearer than the incredible - however the Dinc is has better blacks.

The battery kills the incredible's even with the 1750 put in. My wife uses my old incredible. Great phone, but I do think the X has the edge... and I can switch anytime I want. I chose the X for several reasons, some of which I've just gone through.

Enjoy the phone...

I'd like to disagree with you there. I've been running Launcher Pro on my Droid X from the day I got it and it's been extremely stable. I have had zero problems. Just wanted to clarify for people who might be swayed to not install it. It's the best thing I've put on my phone.

I have to agree with you on Launcher Pro. I've had my phone a little over a month now and have not seen any problems relating to LPP. All my apps open as expected and LPP has not crashed or exhibited any unusual behavior, plus the dev keeps updates coming regularly which is huge.
