Root Just Rooted, and flashed xtr 3.0.3. Couple of questions.

Hi all,
It's pretty late so I'll just get to the point :D

1. When I open the app drawer and select the Calendar, it open just fine. The moment I "touch" a particular day and try to open that, I get a force close. Anybody else had this happen?

2. How do I change the Lock Screen wallpaper? When I flashed the ROM, the lockscreen inherited my default desktop wallpaper from when I was non-rooted. Like in Sense, I'd like to have a different wallpaper for my desktop vs my lockscreen. Can this be done?

3. I loaded the Droid X keyboard apk file. I takes fine and works after I install it, but once I reboot, I'm back to the base keyboard. Any thoughts on that one?

I'm really liking this ROM. Boy is it fast :)

Thanks!

Go to either Gallery or Photos and find the pic you want as a lockscreen or home screen wallpaper. Press on it to select it, then press menu > "set as."

Force closes in just one app, a stock app rather than a 3rd party one from Market, would make me want to start over with that particular app.

I'd go into menu > applications > manage applications > calendar, then I'd clear data and cache, back out of the menu to the home screen and shut down the device, boot up and test the app.

Thanks for the ideas. Frisco, cleared data and cache on the calendar, then rebooted and tried it again. Still no luck. I can open the calendar, but when I select a day it FC's. Major bummer. This is pretty much a deal killer for with this ROM because I use this phone primarily for work.

I also went to Gallery, selected a pic, found the Save As option, but my only two options where Contact Icon and Wallpaper. Can't seem to find anywhere we I can set the Lockscreen wallpaper. Oh well.

Looks like I won't be staying on this ROM anyway due to the calendar issue. I've DL'd 4.0.6 and I'll flash that. Now I need to school myself on this whole "wiping" process before I flash it! :D But I'm having fun with all this, that's the cool part. It's like having a new toy - Ha.

Sorry to hear that you are having that problem.

There are calendars in Market that are more robust than the stock one on most ROMs.

Force closes on stock apps really grind my gears; the only time I saw that on my device was in Evil Eris, which I cured by flashing over. The issue went away with that reflash of the ROM, but other things about EE3 were not to my liking so I moved on.

No worries, Frisco, I realize these ROM aren't "perfect" and the fact that there are SO many out to try to just fine. I'll flash XTR 4.x and try that. I'm really wanting to take a run at some Froyo ROMs too. Thanks for the help.

What comes to mind is that I've not seen calendar force closes reported before on 3.0.3 (or any xtrROM that I can recall.. could be wrong); I'm thinking that it may not be a ROM issue at all, and that a reflash could flush out what might have caused it.. I'd even re-download the zip, check the md5sum, and start over.. these xtrROMs are quite stable.

FWIW, Frisco was incorrect when he said that you can do this in the Gallery app. You can only set lockscreen wallpaper in the Photos app, using the same procedure he listed.

I agree that probably the best solution is a wipe and reset the ROM (or a wipe and reflash if you want to go that far.) I used xtrROM for a long time, and I have about a dozen calendars in my Google account, and I never had a calendar issue with the ROM at all. It sounds like a glitch.

When you rooted, did you do a data wipe first? It could be the fact that you flashed over your existing data.

Thanks Googald. I got the lockscreen to work. Think I'm going to re-flash the ROM. To answer your question about wipe before I flashed, no I did not. I simply rooted the phone and then flashed the ROM. Wondering though if I should go straight 4.0.6?

That was probably your problem. I think you can do either - just do a wipe and reboot (which will reset your phone as if you had just flashed the ROM as a new user), or wipe and flash 4.0.6.1 - it's your choice. Unless you are flashing an updated version that the developer says does not require a data wipe, always wipe data prior to flashing a new ROM.
