I am very disappointed by the snobbish attitude from some of the Android community. I really feel that they have the snobish attitude of the iPhone community. Even though I am in negotiations with the networks, I am no longer allowed to post a link to the website on here due to these people. If you support openess, you belong with Android, but if you do not support openess, please don't spread your hate to the rest of us, or worse yet, spread your hate into the whole idea behind Android.

I VERY much support Android, which is an open source platform. TV shows on DVD are NOT open source, it is a COMPLETELY different idea there. You cannot compare the two. You are obtaining these copies ILLEGALLY and then streaming them ILLEGALLY around the internet. There is a BIG difference between that and open source.

First, let me say that if you have a problem with me removing your thread then you are welcome to take it up with me or one of the Admin via PM. Posting it on the forum is rather inappropriate.

Second, Android is open source. This forum is very open and welcoming to things that are open source. Open source and piracy are not the same thing. If you read the rules of the forum we prohibit the linking to piracy. Hosting intellectual properties on a website that you yourself do not own is piracy. It is against the law as well as the rules here.

The product I was putting in place has a strong demand and the networks need to consider bringing us this product. And does anybody consider the fact that I may be currently in negotiations with the networks and that is the reason the website is not open yet. You are NOT helping the networks by illegally streaming their property. They have enough advertising dollars to do this on there own. Not to mention, all the videos you have on there are from shows that are at least 8 years old.

They have their OWN websites to do just that. They are NOT going to take over your crappy website that I could literally make in 5 minutes.

Again, those shows are OLD, they are not in high demand.

Again, I highly doubt the networks are contacting you to buy your 5 minute created website. And it was open, obviously, because you already had videos on there, and came on here to brag about it.

Again, trying not to make this forum a center for illegal activity. Plus, I work in the TV industry, and because of people like you ILLEGALLY sharing videos, tons of my friends and co-workers have lost their jobs.

I dont have to develop apps to be a good contributer to android and this site. ANd last time I checked, YOU didnt make an app either. Just a website that took 5 minutes to make.

People like me are trying to help your friends keep their jobs. The refusal of the networks, and entertainment industry as a whole, to adapt to the technological times has put a much bigger hurt than anything. The music industry pioneered the cassette and cd, but they did not do the same with the MP3 which they should have and it cost them greatly for not doing so. At the moment, only tv.com has an app for the Android, which is sad in itself. Hulu is fighting off from being able to be viewed on Android, even though users want it.

The more the industry tries to fight it, the more harm they cause themselves, and the people who work in the industry. Instead of fighting it, they need to be more proactive in revolutionizing it. I watch Hulu everyday from my pc, but for whatever reason, I cannot do the same from my Android. All that does is persuade me against using them on my pc.

The industry needs to realize that there is a market that does not just want to watch tv shows from their tv. In fact, many people prefer to watch tv shows away from their tv. For me, sitting in front of a tv is a waste of time and productivity. Even though I am young, I have had my own business interests since I was 10 years old. From having my own lawn mowing services, employing my friends, to shoveling peoples driveways and multiple paper routes. I am an entrepreneur at heart. I mean no harm to anyone.

I would like to hear your input about this lawsuit against Google for using Java in the Android operating system that could potentially cause serious harm to Android. Also, why don't you go around and tell people to stop posting their custom roms since the majority of them have the google apps put into them illegally. How about you go tell KaosFroyo that they need to take the google apps pack off the custom Froyo rom, since google already made cynagon take the apps out of their builds.

Another factor I think has hurt the entertainment industry is the lack of originality. Networks are too busy copying each others TV shows, for example, CSI was a big hit, and other networks have copied with their own versions, such as NCIS. The same goes with reality shows. Even though many people don't support them, they continue to get shoved down our throats.

My reason for not enjoying watching shows on a tv is that you spend so much time channel surfing and still not being able to find anything on that is good. I'd rather go buy complete seasons, or goto Hulu and watch tv shows. All I want, as well as others, is more options, and I will support better options

I happen to (be one of the few?) like the site that this young man put together. Is it illegal? Yes, it is. Does AF have the right to take down his link? Yes, they do. However, to shoot down a kid who built a website, converted videos and is paying for hosting because he wants to help US is a bit dumb.

I'm sure you all have downloaded music illegally at some point, it's the same thing. Regardless, for a 14 year old kid fighting for what he believes in (that the networks don't give a damn about us anyway), I give him kudos. I also bookmarked his link before AF took it down. LoL.

If the music industry would have dealt with the kid from Napster instead of suing him, they would have saved themselves a lot of money, plus they wouldn't have taken as big of hit. All they did was give alternatives the time to be developed and accomplished very little for how much they paid in legal fees. My older brother used Napster a lot, and was willing to even pay for the service. But since the industry refused to negotiate with the guy, and turned around and let Apple do pretty much the same thing the guy from Napster was willing to do, he refused to support the industry. His boycott of the industry stemmed from the industries refusal to support innovation just to turn around and support another greedy corporation doing pretty much the same thing.

Hey Richie, you are not in the minority, you are in the majority. The majority of people are happy with the website, and the simplicity in the design. Makes it very easy to navigate. And a good portion of Android users are looking for options when it comes to watching video on their Android. Since the networks have left us with only the tv.com app, we are very limited for the time being. One of these days they will realize its only a matter of time before Android takes over as the mobile os of choice, overtaking iPhone. If we learn anything from history, Apple will lose the war, just as they had in the 90's against Microsoft.

I appreciate the support some of you guys have given me. Most people have been supportive. All I wanted to do is make a website that allowed people to watch tv on their Android and make some money to help pay for summer camp next year and to save some of it for college. Next thing you know, I have people reporting me and getting my link taken down. But after the attitude I see some people give others when they are new to rooting their phones, I guess I should have known that some people in the Android community feel they are better than others.

I would highly advise everyone NOT to give money to that paypal. You never know if that is his paypal, or what he will use the money for. His website is still up, ans still hosting ILLEGAL videos. So when he gets arrested, they will see that you donated to his site, and will consider you accomplices.

Again, you really dont know what you are talking about. First you say you want people to donate to keep your illegal website running. Now you say you are going to use this money as profit for your college fund. You cannot use a Paypal Donate button for personal profit gain, it says so on their site. You also cannot use that donate button on a site hosting illegal activity. So again, maybe you should read the rules of these websites, and learn your local laws before you get arrested.

Again, thats where you are wrong little kid. Ripping your OWN dvd's that you OWN for your own PERSONAL use is COMPLETELY LEGAL. What you are doing, illegally downloading videos and sharing them on the internet WITHOUT the consent and approval of the videos' owners IS illegal.

And last time I checked, there is no law that says I can't reply to a post that you made.

Ripping DVD's is illegal regardless if you own the DVD or not. That is why they put digital copies on the DVD's now so people don't have to take the law into their own hands. Breaking the protection on the DVD is illegal in itself, regardless if you bought the DVD or not.

Do you go around and tell the people making custom roms that they breaking the law for having the google apps on them. I remember reading about Google making people taking the google apps off of their roms. So why aren't you criticizing them as you are me???

Google apps are always free anyway, so it doesnt matter if people put them on their roms. THEY are open source, not what you are doing illegally.

No it's not, read the fbi warning again. Laywers have interpreted the law as saying you can legally rip movies that you own.

Honestly I'm not sure why google did that to cyanogen. How about this: I'll go check the facts on this, if you go check your facts on ripping dvds, sharing tv episodes online, and using a paypal donate button for personal gain on a website hosting illegal videos.

Ok so their apps are closed source, and cyanogen has since removed them from their roms, but provided a link to get them. The apps are free anyway, so it doesnt really matter if they come on the rom or if you download them separately.
