Same thing happened to me. Definitely irked me that you can do it with any company online, but yet not Verizon

I did it with Apple on my iPhone order. I decided to go down to our local AT&T Store in Ukiah on launch day instead of waiting, so I called up Apple, and a very nice lady got the order cancelled in a few minutes and I was on my way.

Let me share something else with you guys. I just came from and eye appt. in Walmart and afterwards I jus' decided to walk back in electronics and to my little surprise discovered that they had FOUR, yes I said FOUR Droid Xs in stock. Now take it that I purchased mine on the 18th of August and is still pending shipment. So due to mine still pending shipment, I called Verizon immediately and explained the situation to them and simply asked if I could jus' pick it up from Walmart and cancel my order or do some type of rapid refund or swap, they told me the only way I could get one of those Droid Xs out of Walmart is to purchase it again and refuse my order when it comes and that it would take 5-7 business days for them to refund my money. I didn't want to have to pay for the Droid X twice, plus I got a good deal on mine, and I believe it's goin' to ship today or tomorrow, so I'm stuck in limbo now of purchasing the one of the four from Walmart or waitin' for mine. I'm tryin' to see if I'm gonna get a notification today, if not I might go back in there and buy one them from Walmart. I'm jus' don't want to have to spend another couple of hundred dollars on a phone I already have ordered. Verizon is very stupid because I asked them if I could simply swap the phone on order for the one in Walmart and their response was no because Walmart was a third party business or partner or sum' bull and that they don't get their phones from Verizon. Long story short. I'm mad azz hell right now!!!

I bet you could sell a BNIB Droid X for at least $300. What do you think.

Yeah that would be nice if you could do that but that ain't the case. You can't buy phones, put them on your account, and sell them because then you are gonna be stuck wit' a line on your account that you are gonnna be responsible for or you will have to pay a $350 cancellation notice. I'm not paying full price for these phones where I don't have to have a contract, I'm getting them at the discount price. In that case everyone would be doing what you jus' said LOL! Think about if you sell your phone. What two option do you have? Keep paying for a line that has no phone or cancel your service which cost $350. I can't buy the one in walmart and sell the other one when it come because Verizon is goin' to want one of the phones back if I don't want one of them.
If you got the money and Wal-Mart quotes you a good price then buy it and sell the Verizon one. If you make money or come out even why not.
