Hey guys

I was looking at my battery usage the other day and tried a couple of things
to increase it.

What I've done was:

- Turn off WiFi
- Turn off mobile network
- Chose a darker background

I then checked my battery usage again and I found out that 2 massive things
use my battery most of the time.

Note that my phone is in dutch rather then english but I'll add the translation below.

WiFi 30%
Cell Standby 31%
Phone idle 29%
Android-system 7%
Display 3%

You can see on the attached file that "Mobile stand-by" and
"Phone inactive" use the most of my battery.

Can anybody explain to my what those things mean?
I assume that "phone inactive" means that my phone is in standby rather then
turned off and that if want to decrease that factor I have to turn of my phone when I don't use it? :p

and I assume that "Mobile stand-by" means that my phone is connected to my carrier so I can receive texts and calls?

I just want confermation about these things :)

Thanks in advance
Cheers

going by your icons the mobile standby on my uk desire is written "cell standby" which also going by the image would suggest that the battery is used by the connection to mobile carrier staying active. The other, phone inactiver is written " phone idle" on mine which perhaps relates to all other apps etc that sit waiting to be activated and used???

I set up a thread (Im not sure how to add a link here but it was called - "please help with my battery life" a few days ago to try and get helpfull suggestions on ways to improve the battery life - there are a few on there that have helped me possible gain an extra 4-5 hours life before the need to recharge. In fact where as before I was having to charge every day- its not 9pm in the evening and I haveober 50% left form a charge this morning. I would descirbe myself as moderate user - I know thisa is relative but to put it inot perspective I have only had the phone a month and am still enjoying playing with it and functions thoughtout the day, calls, internet, download etc.

I hope this has helped a little bit.

See the Desire FAQ at the top of the forum for some battery tips, there's a pretty hefty section in there. It's normal for system idle and mobile network to have 20-30% each.

Ok thanks.

It's not that I'm asking tips on how to decrease my battery consumption.

I wanted to know what those 2 main things stand for and possible reasons
how I could decrease them.

Thanks to both you guys. You helped me quite alot ;)

Topic solved for me...
