I used the app Mymobiler for Windows Mobile on a daily bases to control my phone via PC while connected by USB.

Does anyone know if there is anything close to this available for Android?

For those of you that are not familiar with mymobiler, it is a win mobile app that let you control your phone from a window on your pc. it was very useful when installing and managing applications and contacts. You can use your pc keyboard for data entry and also take screen shots for posting in forums or instruction sheets.

Closest thing I've seen is the motorola phone tools for Droid (not sure of the exact name). A link to the APK was posted here or in the Apps forum recently.

Works over wireless...computer and Droid on the same network, log into droid via IP provided by app running on phone, and you can see all SMS, contacts, emails, send SMS from the PC, etc.

No app management as far as I remember, no screen shots.

So I'm not the only one!

I'd love an Android equivelant, I lived and died by this on my Touch Pro. I've got a hero, not a droid, but I would be very interested in finding a similar app.

My mobiler wasn't really what you describe Redflea, it basically showed your phone screen on the computer, and you could use your mouse as if you were pressing the phone screen and use the keyboard as if it were attached. That way I could plug my phone iun at work and forget about it, but I could still use it, respond to texts e.t.c without even picking it up!

Glad I'm not the only one. Maybe some developers are missing it too.

Thanks for clarifying...that is somewhat different.

Though you could use the Moto stuff for handling texts from your screen - texts on the phone appear on the PC and you can respond from the PC, IRRC.

Go vote for it here
Let's get a lot of people to vote for it!

I just went "there" and added my support. As I said there, I had Tapsmart Keylink on my Treo Smartphone that did what you're talking about (was able to use my computer screen/keyboard to view and control everything on my Treo, though USB or bluetooth) and I used it every day.
